Gran Turismo 7 Will Feature Most Extensive Tuning Mode in Series

Polyphony Digital has showcased the improved tuning mode in the upcoming Gran Turismo 7 game in a new video.

Tuning cars can be a somewhat controversial aspect of racing games. On one side of the argument, improving the speed and handling of a car using new parts is a fun way to diversify how a car can be used, and on the other side, it breaks from realism and allows players to do things with certain cars that couldn't be achieved in real life.

But Sony and Polyphony Digital have decided to lean more toward the former position and allow players more tuning options than any previous Gran Turismo title. A new video shared on the GT YouTube channel shows creator Kazunori Yamauchi sharing information on the importance of tuning cars and how players can expect GT7 to embrace this mentality.

Calling back to titles prior to Gran Turismo Sport, the tuning in GT7 will allow for various grades of of parts like ECU, intake, exhaust, brakes, engine, weight reduction, suspension, tires and more to be installed.

Gran Turismo 7 has a scheduled release date of March 4th, 2022. Be sure to check back to RD often as more pre-release details are shared from Sony and PD.

I went back to GT Sport recently just for a laugh and after driving mostly PC sims for a few years it didn't feel good at all. I'd even put the general feel of it below Forza Motorsport 7. Hopefully the latest one is better. PD make great tracks though.

Normally I'd probably buy GT anyway for light relief but since the PS5 is like a unicorn I've not got one yet as I refuse to pay scalpers stupid money.

"More tuning options"... it's not like the Gran Turismo Series is a reference in tuning options or even it's implementation. So, not much of a challenge to "feature more" than almost nothing.

But this kind of declaration is expected... marketing guys have to work :whistling:

Ah yes, get ready for the elitists of simracing coming here and bash a game that has more going for it than most of the so called "big sims" combined...
Don't get me wrong I've probably spent literally thousands of hours on the GT series since I bought it on day one on PSone. I love road cars and don't like the elitist 'race cars only' thing when it comes to sims. GT3 and a FFB wheel kept me sane in 2001/2 when I got banned.

As I said the tracks in PD games are something else. Some of the best fantasy tracks ever. Collecting 30+ variants of a Skyline is also something else.

To bad Sony will never allow it on pc with vr....its a shame really because thats where i got my start. PS1 and the first GT the day it came out along with a G25 clamped to a table.

I figure the logic many of them follow is along the lines of;

"This game I don't play is better and more popular than [insert preferred sim here]? This cannot be! Time to come up with excuses to say it's an arcade game so that I can call [insert preferred sim here] the best in the genre!"

I just think about the price of this title Sony will give us (after the controversy price rises from $70 up to...), though these features are kind of ...good? but 70 bucks maybe too high?
Not the experience yet, you'll have to be affordable to get it

GOOD. Im tired of seeing people that dont think sim and tuning can mix together. Its not like buying aftermarket racing parts for your car is much cheaper than a dedicated entry level racecar.

GT Sport's number of concurrent online players is probably higher than all of the PC sims combined - and it's a four years old game.

Also, the top GT Sport players are incredibly competitive. They would most likely beat most of us in any of our favorite PC sims.
yeah right because professional racing teams and professional racing drivers train in Grand Turismo hahahaha

Is the G25 even compatible with the PS1? Wasn't the G25 released nine years after Gran Turismo?
My G27 worked on the PS3, but according to Sony the G25 only worked with the PS2 and PS3. Maybe it's a genuine error on their part, our memories can play funny tricks on us.

Regarding the game.

With the hype around Forza Horizon 5 which I have been seeing this week I'm hoping that GT7 brings us some fun, it doesn't all have to be serious. Also I hope it looks and sounds amazing.

I wish this thread to stay away from the old arcade vs sim debate, it's getting boring now. Same s**t different day

My biggest complaint with GT Sport was that as a offline racer it was way too easy and as a result totally useless. With almost all challenges you could reach gold medal in one or two tries (so hardly any challenge) and even on the highest ai level the ai was so slow you had to pick a car from a slower class compaired to the ai to make the race challenging. Online racing was more challenging, but after 3 o'clock in the afternoon (when all the kids come from school) the races changed into a wreckfest (even on A level). I hope not, but I am afraid that GT 7 will be no different.

I remember when I tried GT !
Felt like driving around in a bathtub filled with water !
A dreadful experience !

Stop bullshitting, after forza 7 Which i even played on tripples, the GT sport was miles ahead of it. With controller GT sport is easy much better than forza 7. There is no even a discussion here
