Gran Turismo 7 | Polyphony issue apology and 1 million credits

Gran Turismo 7 1 million credits.jpg
It would appear that Polyphony have listened to the criticism that Gran Turismo 7 has received and they are taking action. They are paying out 1 million credits to players who have been affected, rectifying many issues highlighted by players, and providing additional races and cars.

Kazunori Yamauchi - President of Polyphony Digital wrote a recent post on the Official PlayStation Blog. He wrote that the GT7 feedback had been heard and that he apologized for the frustration and confusion that was caused last week. The confusion and frustration that he referred to was a player reaction to extended server outage and a change to the in-game economy.

The blog post continued to state that this is not the Gran Turismo experience players should expect and as a goodwill gesture, players will receive a non-paid credit pack of 1 million credits, which will be made available to those who have been affected. This goodwill gesture will be made available to players shortly and must be claimed April 25th.

According to Kazunori Yamauchi, the change to the in-game economy was to rectify an issue with inconsistent reward pay-outs. The whole of the rewards system received a recalculation to accurately reward players based on time investment and completion. However, players can expect a considerable patch early April, where the number of events will increase, and where the reward system will have a greater balance throughout the game.

Updates

Updates that will come into effect at the beginning of April:
  • Increase rewards in the events in the latter half of the World Circuits by approximately 100% on average.
  • Addition of high rewards for clearing the Circuit Experience in all Gold/All Bronze results.
  • Increase of rewards in Online Races.
  • Include a total of eight new one-hour Endurance Race events to Missions. These will also have higher reward settings.
  • Increase the upper limit of non-paid credits in player wallets from 20M Cr. to 100M Cr.
  • Increase the quantity of Used and Legend cars on offer at any given time.

Patches

Additionally, there will be more patches deployed throughout April which will add new cars, course layouts, and fix other issues. Looking further ahead with no confirmed dates, players can expect:
  • Increase the pay-out value of limited time rewards as we develop as a live service.
  • Further World Circuit event additions.
  • Addition of Endurance Races to Missions including 24-hour races.
  • Addition of Online Time Trials and awarding of rewards according to the player’s difference with the top ranked time.
  • Make it so cars can be sold.
Are you happy with this GT7 news? Will it rectify the outrage that so many players had?

So, I can BUY ACC or any other sim for real money, and then buy DLC's with real money and that's fine. But if I buy GT7 with real money and WANT to buy cars (I can grind for them, I'm not required to spend a dime) this is considered unfair and even crooked. Amazing. I just can't take people too seriously. Because you just can't be.
Well, i could argue that GTA Online is an example of how bad this model can be, and how by introducing real money microtransactions the devs will eventually start to balance the prices of cars by these microtransactions instead of by how easy or hard it is to earn money in game, but i never said **** about the microtransactions. I was talking about DRM.

You live in a place with unreliable internet? Oops you cant play the game anymore.
Game is too old and servers shut down? Oops you cant play the game anymore.
Servers went down for maintenance for 30 hours? Oops i hope you didn't had that free weekend just at that moment.
Having bad luck with a thunderstorm that cuts your internet? Oops you cant play the game anymore.
Someone in the house downloading something that consumes most of the bandwith and PS4/5 thinks its too slow to connect to the servers? Oops youcant play the game anymore.

Avid PC sim racer here... And really on PC there isn't a good GT like game. Gran Turismo is basically Pokemon with cars. PC has Forza but that's always been a poor substitute. (Don't get me wrong, I like the Forza series. It's just never been as good as Gran Turismo.)

Played Gran Turismo since the second one, great series, and if you're into cars there's nothing else like it.
I don't agree with your opinion.
I was a fanatical console gamer many years ago on GT 1 then 2
I switched to Forza 2, so much better than GT! Met lots of people on the net, the live was fabulous, I joined a big French team (I'm French-speaking but not French) the TX3 team, which still exists on PC, we had a guy who was second in the world and who pissed us off every time we rode with him :).
The organization of races, major tournaments, French championship individually, in teams, world cups etc... The live so important, so much better managed than GT the pleasure multiplied by 100, the exchange of settings, paintings , cars, enormous progress, verbal fights, discussions in the team, from Forza 3 and then Forza 4, a great era! There were real encounters, real friendships.... I stopped after that because I risked divorce otherwise, maybe I should have continued! ;-)
M ^ me without the live, so much better than GT!
AI so much better "non-live" (I only rode live practically, except for training)...
On the other hand, huge disappointment when buying my first console steering wheel, very poorly managed by Forza, some like it, but I don't understand how they manage to appreciate it, when the steering wheel is well managed by GT it seems?
So to sum up, on the controller Forza has no equal as an arcade sim, the community aspect is incredible, GT is a sub simulation so arcade sim, very well done on Playstation, playable behind the wheel? But is in no way a real racing simulator, the real simulators are on PC and are played with good gear, a VR headset or a triple screen.
After each his own opinion.
Anyway, have fun with your game.

Wonder how they will say sorry to Russian users - their game was deleted from consoles and refunded after 1 night, preordered ones.

No one needs to buy anything. Everything is free. MT were added as an option for those wanting to buy their way past grinding for cars. But, I've said this like 6 times already. ACC has had 2 DLC's which I have skipped because I don't care for those and don't think their worth it. That's your choice as well. And, it's the same in GT7. There is a difference though: In GT7, I still have access to ALL of the content for free. I don't need to buy DLC's. The same can't be said for ACC or most other sims. But, hey. You can still hate GT7. That's your choice.
You are talking utter garbage.

Have you seen some of the prices for the cars in that game? At least in GT Sport you could just spend 2 quid on a car you wanted even if you didnt want to do the relativily fair grind to earn it.

This game is abhorrent and its been pulled up as so. And it doesnt help when silly White Knights like yourself endorse the practice.

As for ACC, the car DLCs are not really required, you can access most of the car set in the base game and the DLC is fairly priced for a group of cars and tracks. The most expensive DLC breaks the items down to about 1.5 quid each!

Not to forget you can also get cheap bundles on PC, AC for under a fiver, ACC with all content for 30 odd quid. Not like paying 70 quid for an always online game that has all the best vehicles locked behind a paywall unless you have weeks and weeks to grind.
