The next free update for Gran Turismo 7 is now live for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, version 1.43 releasing 29th February 2024 – is it us, or are these updates gradually slowing down in terms of new features and additional content?

Discuss in the comments below, but before then, here are the most important additions.

Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.43 Highlights

  • Four new cars – three all-new, plus the Bulgari VGT for all
  • Five fresh engine swap combinations
  • One additional Café Extra Menu for Lamborghinis
  • Three World Circuits races
  • Weekly Challenges date swap
  • Mitsubishi Lap Time Challenge

New Cars

No, there is now new-generation Ford Mustang GT3 or classic Nissan R390 GT1, but there are three fresh vehicles to add to your car collection:
  • Audi TTS Coupe ’09 – 511.52pp – Brand Central – 68,000 credits (also Used Cars)
  • Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX MR GSR ’06 – 506.66pp – Brand Central – 100,000 credits (also Used Cars)
  • Renault R4 GTL ’85 – 153.27pp – Used Cars – 24,400 credits

Of note, the changelog notes that the Audi and Mitsubishi are available at the Legend Cars pavilion. They are not, find them within Brand Central or Used Cars. The Renault is also currently available within the latter.

There is a fourth car, as the Bulgari Aluminium Vision Gran Turismo concept is now available to everyone via Brand Central, as opposed to buying a limited-edition watch.
  • Bulgari Aluminium Vision Gran Turismo – 619.47pp – Brand Central – 1,000,000 credits

Fresh Engine Swaps

One of the more esoteric, but fun, features in Gran Turismo 7 is the ability to swap the standard engine of a car with another, more powerful one, from the real world.

Each month, a new set of combinations is released. This time, five sets are now available, including the ability to place a 1.4-litre turbo inside the loveable (and unstable) Suzuki Jimny.
  • Nissan GT-R Premium Edition ’17 – LS7-BRZ V8 turbo – 300,000 credits
  • Suzuki Jimny XC ’18 – K14C-Swift 1.4-litre turbo – 109,180 credits
  • Toyota GR Corolla MORIZO Edition ’22 – 2JZ-GTE-Supra 3-litre turbo – 210,000 credits
  • Toyota Sprinter Trueno 3door 1600GT APEX (AE86) ’83 – 3S-GTE-MR2 2-litre turbo – 135,000 credits
  • Toyota Supra 3.0GT Turbo A ’88 – 2JZ-GTE-Supra 3-litre turbo – 210,000 credits

To engine swap the cars above, or any other, simply visit GT Auto and the car maintenance and service area.

World Circuit Events

Three additional single-player race events are now part of the World Circuits roster, each appropriate for the new car additions this month.
  • WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca – Japanese Clubman Cup 550 – Three laps, Japanese road cars, maximum reward 40,000 credits
  • Tsukuba Circuit – Sunday Cup Classic – Three laps, road cars, maximum reward 25,000 credits
  • Suzuka Circuit – European Clubman Cup 600 – Three laps, road cars (from Europe), maximum reward 60,000 credits

Weekly Challenges

A key change is that the weekly single-player challenges – whereby a playlist of five events refreshes each week and hands out lucrative rewards. These have previously been updated each Thursday, but now this has switched to Fridays. Hence for today only (29th February 2024), there are no special events. Check back tomorrow, folks.

Gran Turismo 7 No Weekly Challenges

Lap Time Challenge

There is, however, a new online time trail, which continues the Thursday cadence.

Providing the opportunity to earn up to two million in-game credits by competing in an online leaderboard challenge, two are available, each lasting two weeks on an alternate cycle.

Today’s latest addition sees you in the new-to-Gran Turismo 7 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX MR GSR around the Red Bull Ring. You have until the early hours of 14th March to enter.

Lamborghini Café Extra Menu

No, this is not a new Café menu book with extra driving challenges, but an ‘extra’ menu which pays out a reward for owning three specific cars.

This time, number 36 is themed around classic Lamborghinis.

Extra Menu No.36: ‘Collection: Lamborghini’ (Collector Level 43 and above)

Purchase, or already own the following cars:
  • Lamborghini Miura P400 Bertone Prototype ‘67 (Legend Cars)
  • Lamborghini Countach LP400 ‘74 (Legend Cars)
  • Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 ‘11 (Brand Central)
Reward: Six-star roulette ticket

The Aventador is readily available in Brand Central, but the other two are harder to find within the rotating Legend Cars store. The Countach is available right now, however, so be quick.

Pyrenees Scape, Legend Cars Valuations and Text Changes

Those are the bigger items in this update, but there are also more Scapes locations, this time in the Pyrenees, the wording for if a car is turbocharged or turbo and supercharged has changed, a split-screen bug has been squashed and valuations of cars for sale in Legend Cars has been aligned with Hagerty’s real-world valuations.

The full changelog is below, and as ever, let us know your thoughts in the comments section or discuss in the forum.

I love gt7 in contrast to a wide popular opinion. But I sadly have to let it go because of the horrible ffb implementation. I wish it would be something they had addressed in this anniversary update, guess I'll have to wait for the next one.

What Wheel? Don;t think they really try to improve the experience ffb wise and don't see it ever improving, though happy with the ffb through my CSL DD 8nm with Drivehub. Another poor update as I want races and we get 3 that don't even cover the distance of the daily workout, Pitiful.

The most surprising thing you said here was inferring that you'd actually buy the next one. They've been going down the tubes and I don't see them getting any better. They had their chance with 7 and have underperformed in multiple areas. They've had their heyday and now you can buy a 5000 dollar watch to get a VGT car early. I'm out. No more Playstations and no more Gran Turismos for me.
