Forza Motorsport: Daytona and 10 New Cars Set For Update 4

The post-release content support continues to flow for Forza Motorsport, even if significant gameplay changes must wait.

The content team continues to fire on all cylinders a Turn 10 Studios, with another flood of additions on the way this week – if only they weren’t being let down by an uninspiring car upgrade system and a series of multiplayer-affecting bugs…

Anyway, setting that aside for now, let’s dive into the new additions ahead of the full changelog.

Daytona International Speedway

Following Yas Marina and the Hockenheimring, Daytona International Speedway will be added in the game’s fourth content update.

All tracks are added with no extra charge and include dynamic weather and time of day. The latest roster expander arrives with two layouts: a 2.5-mile Tri-oval and a 3.59-mile Sports Car Circuit.

Of note, the venue’s pitlane exit is… still blocked off like in Forza Motorsport 7. We can’t help but feel that this could create some hair-raising moments heading into the opening corner.

To date, the additional circuits, however, have not been integrated into the Builders Cup career. Mercifully, that changes with Update 4, with all three new venues so far added to the mix.

In Featured Multiplayer (the ranked mode), one of the series will be Daytona-themed over the weekend of the real-world Rolex 24 at Daytona race. Every ‘few hours’ the car class changes and it’s claimed there will be natural time-of-day progression like a 24-hour race.

10 New Cars

This isn’t straightforward, so bear with us here, as there’s a mixture of cars to buy with in-game credits, unlockable cars and paid DLC cars.

First, new cars that are added for free to the game, which you must buy with credits earnt through game progression:
  • Lancia Delta HF Integrale EVO (1992)
  • Abarth 124 Spider (2017)
  • Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio (2017)
  • Ferrari 430 Scuderia (2007)

In Forza parlance, these are known as ‘spotlight’ cars, with one available in showroom to buy each week with a 30 per cent in-game discount – starting from 18th January and ending 15th February.

There are also two further new cars with you can win by completing the two new career tours:
  • Lamborghini Murciélago LP 670-4 SV (2010)
  • Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA Stradale (1965)
Completing the four-round Italian Challengers featured tour will net you the Lamborghini Murciélago. The Open Tour for this month is themed around classic cars, and completing the latest events before 15th February 2024 will unlock the Alfa Romeo Giulia.

Finally, four new cars will be added for those who have purchased the Car Pass DLC – either separately or bundled within various premium editions of the game.
  • McLaren Senna GTR (2019) – 18th January 2024
  • Ferrari #62 Risi Competizione 488 GTE (2019) – 25th January 2024
  • Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro (2022) – 1st February 2024
  • Cadillac #57 TA CTS-V (2018) – 8th February 2024
As is the trend for the current Forza Motorsport, several of these latest additions look to have representations shared with prior titles – all the non-Car Pass additions featured within FM7.

Forza Motorsport Update 4 Rivals, 18th January - 15th February 2024

What happens next?

Update 4 for Forza Motorsport will be released for PC and Xbox Series X|S on 16th January, but the new events do not start until the 18th. We hope, and expect, a full changelog to be released alongside the patch, detailing any bug fixes or gameplay changes.

On our wishlist currently are items such as an on-screen radar, being able to watch back multiplayer replays and avoiding invisible race leaders. The development team is also working on AI, car upgrades and penalties. The more significant changes are not expected this week.

“This version is focused on new content and events and contains only minor fixes for car and track content compared to our previous updates,” states the Forza announcement post.

“Work on game fixes to address top community issues is ongoing – look out for additional improvements in Update 5 and beyond.”

Will you be testing out Daytona in Forza Motorsport, or waiting for further game updates first? Let us know in the comments below.

And people still think that game developers don't strategically hold back content to entice people to keep playing even though the game is dying in a major way LoL. Releasing a Daytona road course DLC isn't gonna save Forza especially when it dosen't have all the cars that are in the 2024 race.. Desperate times for Turn10 studios.

Hm to me it looks more like the "fail" starts right below the News in the comments, surprise surprise. :roflmao:

Daytona was kinda expected and very cool that for the first time ever in the series we have full time and day, dynamic weather and grip.
Steam reviews have started before, you can defend the fail it doesnt change the facts, no surprise when you milk the custumers. But there is always a good milk cow to defend the devil. Stockholm syndrom.

I remember you, the famous Andy defending Project cars 3 as the best game..

The game is riddled with bugs. It even got itself a very popular subreddit called "built from the ground up" as a joke from how bad it turned out.

And sure, Daytona was expected because it already existed in the Forza world. Copy, paste, add a few new things (but not all of them) and call it NEW ADDITION.

Update 4 should be rather then giving you new content (That can wait) we are fixing the mechanics to make it more enjoyable and raceable.

We'll make up the difference later content wise!

Really wish they do not abandon it and actually fix the problems.
The driving feel is great, the rest of the package is not that much. :(

It's a shame what's happened. The lies, the poor performance, the lack of content that was taken away, the bugs and crashing. All we can do now is see how long it takes them to bring it around. They said they were sticking with it hence no number in the name. There's no sense in yammering on about how bad it is, we all know.

Of course it is important to keep talking about how bad it is because someone new to racing games might be interested in it and buy a broken game without knowing about all the issues.

That's hilarious. So both of you don't even own the game but feel it's your duty to keep up the drivel that everyone already knows for a few people that were born yesterday.
Thanks for doing the Lord's work. Whatever would those 15 people that haven't read anything about FM yet and are going to blindly buy the game ever do without you.
Oh that's right, they won't read this anyways.

OR.... the fact they wont get the same graphics as shown in all official videos. Also something existing users are pointing out.
to be fair i was one of the first here to point out how not even these "official videos" pre release were looking that great and the released product managed to look even worse. impressive achievement for a 6 yrs break. meanwhile GT7 that is a crossgen game looks in almost every aspect better.
they can add as many cars and tracks as they want, as long as they dont fix that yellow brownish filter and low contrast with boring colors i am not gonna play this game.

Acc, forza, you deserve not the simucube 2
Weird comment, are you some sort of sim elitists.
It is the first Forza title that works with Simucube or any DD wheel using standard DxInput protocol, requiring no extra drivers like EmuWheel and vJoy.
And with all the criticism it does have a very decent FFB and tactile support, not ACC level but comparable with AC and R3E.
So why is it a problem to use SC2 with it?
