BTCC DLC Coming to rFactor 2

BTCC cars are the latest content to be confirmed for rFactor 2, joining Donington Park and Brands Hatch as DLC releases scheduled for next month.

rFactor 2's quarterly content drop due next month is shaping up nicely.

While the corporate world surrounding Studio 397 is in apparent shambles, the developer continues to impress with their upcoming content. British Touring Cars are joining the sim as DLC in the coming weeks.

This may not have been the news BTCC fans had ultimately been looking for as compared to the prospect of a full simulator dedicated to these touring cars, but it appears this will have to suffice for the time being.

The BTCC DLC will focus on two cars for the time being, the Infiniti Q50 and Toyota Corolla GR Sport. Each will have its respective 2021 BTCC liveries. Studio 397 plans to release a 2022 update with new cars and the latest liveries later this year.

The writing may have been on the wall for this DLC, as the two other pieces of content announced for the second quarterly release in rFactor 2 were British racing circuits. Donington Park and Brands Hatch have both been confirmed for the sim. This doesn't complete the BTCC calendar, but provides more locations in which to drive these cars.

Need to be careful when the release is out. Last time they charged separately for cars and tracks only to offer both on second day as a much cheaper bundle.
I was so unlucky being a quick starter and paid for both track and cars.

No?
They were never announced as "released" before the bundle came. However, some of the items did appear before the bundle.

Great news. The Infiniti is a favourite of mine. Now if they add the Knockhill circuit to the sim, I’ll be a happy man.
One of my first exposures to BTCC was watching them on the TV at Knockhill. To see the cars use the inside of the curb to pull themselves around the corner was jaw dropping.
Tracks like Knockhill are probably the reason DTM never caught my eye. The movement of cars on those narrow lumpy British tracks made the DTM cars look like they were sleepwalking on many of the F1 circuits they raced on.

Kinda hope this paves the way for AMS2-like series so rF2 can put up a pleasnt, polished BTCC experience, or a Formula experience, or GT3 experience. It's all about providing a ready-made, plug'n'play, just go, immersive experience.

100% this. That'd be wonderful. And the further towards having complete sets of cars and tracks for those series, the better (even if some have to be modded in, that's the beauty of a moddable sim).

Oh bugger, not looking forward to messing about with rFactor 2's awful ui etc, but finally getting a proper BTCC simulation will be worth it I guess!! At least we know the physics etc are in good hands!

I can see why we haven’t got the BTCC game coming this year.

Motorsport Games: ambitious but rubbish.
they tought it was gonna be easy to just slap the rfactor coding on the unreal engine, but i guess Nascar 21 gave them a big reality check

Very clearly these are cars and tracks developed for the BTCC game, that we're probably never going to get.

Seeing a couple of people mention it'll "help stop the bleeding" but please tell me how making $5000 from selling a few touring cars to the people left playing rF2 will somehow right the course of a company hemorrhaging millions each month.

Yeah, saw it coming... Great news they are releasing BTCC tracks and cars. Still a lot missing
if we want to have the complete roster, but already 2 nice touring cars to make us happy.

Oh, I forgot to mention... Aren't touring cars the most attractive cars we can enjoy to feel
we are actually racing real cars? Oh, yeah!

Can't wait!

I'd like to think that the issues with NASCAR 21 have forced MSG to re-think their BTCC game ideas which is why it disappeared off the road-map; but will work around that problem by incorporating the BTCC tracks and cars into rf2.
Perhaps we'll see a customised version of rF2 that will feature just the BTCC DLC items.
However, that's not going to solve the issue of not having anything for console gamers, which clearly NASCAR 21 is aimed at, and would be where one would expect a BTCC game to be targeted at; they need to shift content in bulk to recoup the cost of licencing, development and marketing.
Selling DLC to rF2 users isnt going to do that for them.

Lets reinstall rF2 for the umpteenth time
please don't, we'll be flooded with whinging and moaning about the process of re-installing vs the content updates. Save us the grief, you already know you won't like it...(and this isn't pointed at tim, but anyone who drops rF2, then comes back then leaves again.) Much simpler in the long run if you leave it installed on the backburner, occasionally visiting Steam and keep it current.
