Assetto Corsa Competizione | Challengers Pack DLC and Game Update Released

ACC Challengers Pack DLC 01.jpg
Kunos Simulazioni has released the fifth DLC pack for Assetto Corsa Competizione on PC, the Challengers Pack.

ACC’s latest DLC pack is the Challengers Pack DLC, composed mostly of spec series race cars.

This is the fifth DLC for Assetto Corsa Competizione, following the release of the GT4 Pack, Intercontinental GT Pack, British GT Pack, and 2020 GT World Challenge Pack.

Here is an overview about what is included in the new DLC:

Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II – The only true GT3 car to be released here is the newest Audi GT3 car. ACC already has the R8 LMS and LMS Evo, and this is another step forward for the Audi. Improvements to the aero and suspension aren’t major, but enough to soften the edge of a car known for its narrow effective tire window. It remains generally nimble, with good overall handling.

BMW M2 CS Racing – The newest BMW to be added to this sim is the M2 CS Racing. A sub-400 horsepower spec series car that drives unlike anything in the sim to date. This car is designed for wheel-to-wheel racing, where the advantage goes to the driver that can conserve momentum effectively. The car will tend to understeer if pushed too hard through a corner, so a well-trained left foot that can slow the car just enough to allow efficient cornering is a must.

Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo – Kunos has given players the most powerful car in ACC to date as part of this pack. Ferrari’s 488 Challenge Evo effectively a 488 GT3 without compliance to GT3 regulations. The twin-turbo charged, mid-mounted 3.9L V8 engine produces an impressive 670 horsepower and 760 Newton-meters of torque. It’s heavier than its GT3 counterpart, so the incredible power figures and resulting straight line speeds are balanced with longer braking zones. The Challenge Evo drives as an absolute blast in ACC, with huge top speeds and enough torque to seldom warrant using 1st or 2nd gear.

Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo Evo2 – The Super Trofeo is nothing new to Assetto Corsa Competizione, but this new version outperforms its predecessor by almost any metric. While the old Super Trofeo in ACC was nervous, the new Evo2 is a confident, fast monster on the track. Its 5.2L V10 engine maintains the roar we’ve come to expect from the Lambo and Audi models in this title, and the striking looks of the Super Trofeo may help make this a popular choice for one-make races very soon.

Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992) - Porsche Cup cars hold the distinction of being the biggest selling race car in the world, and it might also be the most popular sim car as well, with its presence in nearly all modern racing sims. Porsche’s newest Cup car, based on the 992 version of the 911, potentially shaves seconds off the lap times of its predecessors while retaining the challenging driving style we have come to associate with the Porsche Cup car. Aerodynamics have changed with the new Cup car, including a larger, gooseneck mounted rear wing. It’s a fun, fast spec series car that should prove as popular as the previous Cup car.

The spec series focus is an unexpected direction for the sim known as the go-to GT3 and GT4 sim, but the new car lineup opens up driving options. One of these options could be a three-make race, since the Ferrari, Lamborghini and Porsche cars are somewhat balanced in overall lap times but possessing different strengths.

As mentioned, the Lambo is all of the nimble-ness of the first Super Trofeo without the nervousness. I HATED the first edition of this car and still am not one to drive it, but this...THIS one is fun to drive on the limit.

Approach the BMW with an open mind. If you are of the "slow cars have more fun" school (like savvier sim-racers are,) you will adore this. This thing is MADE for a quick fun race with your buddies. It takes the GT4 concept of being smooth and keeping momentum and bumps it up a notch, but it just feels more responsive and fun than most of the GT4 offerings. I think this is going to carve out a real following for single-make online races.

The Ferrari is totally unlike anything else. Like taking a bath in hot queso, you have to ease into it. The weight seriously has to be taken into account and you'll be re-calibrating braking points and how you attack corners. Took me more time than the others to get a handle on just what the hell was going on with this one. People will either love it or hate it.

You're either a Porsche person or you're not in ACC. I'm a Porsche person, so I thought this car was a hoot. Makes me regret not taking more of an interest in Porsche Cup offerings previously. Love it entering corners. Treat her nicely and she will give you plenty. That sounded way dirtier than I meant it to be.

If you like Audi, the Audi gives you more Audi. If you don't like Audi, it won't change your mind. That's it.
Agreed on all counts. The Ferrari alone is worth the DLC, it's "brutal" compared to the GT3 cars and it's a blast. I get the feeling this one will monopolize most of my time in ACC in the coming weeks.

Im going to buy it, however, Kunoz, we really don't need slightly newer versions of the same cars each year, we need WAY more tracks, if you released nothing but tracks for the next two years and did not update the cars noone would complain.
Believe me, 4 out of 5 cars in the DLC are not slightly newer versions, they are different. The only one that feels more of the same is the Audi.

Nothing else, really, not even in the GT4 category. It's a touring car, not a GT car.
Yes I agree. It's why I didn't understand those saying there was nothing that wasn't already represented. It's by far the closest thing to a street car in the game.

I feel its superb. ACC continues to build on its strengths and focus without getting distracted and veering off track. At $11 US, the latest Challengers Pack DLC with 5 new vehicles is solid value for the money considering the high profile manufacturer partnerships, high quality modelling and driving experience. All of the cars are really distinct in their character and dynamics. Really looking forward to the upcoming expanded track library. Hopefully we will get North American SRO circuits to take these vehicles out on!

Very happy with the new content. Bought it instantly, took it for a small spin.
Yet again these guys at Kunos hit the marker!! Great job guys!!

I've purchased it as well. Mainly to support Kunos, but the M2 CS and Porsche Cup are actually fun to drive. I haven't tried the other cars yet. Any comments on the Ferrari 488 Challenge?

I am guilty of purchasing the DLC for the Audi (AUDI GANG!).

After doing some quick runs with all of the new cars I have to say that there is so much to discover and have fun with! All of them are so different in driving behavior. With the GT4 cars you can more or less keep to your GT3 brake points and stuff. With some of the new cars this is impossible. So you really have to delve into these cars' driving characteristics to drive them comfortably.

That is one of the major traits of this DLC in my opinion. We get new cars that completely feels different to the ones already in the game (minus the Audi).
Especially the Ferrari....not sure at this point I'm going to love or hate it tbh. On my first outing I seemed to do everything wrong...that I can say with full confidence. :roflmao:

BTW seeing the American liveries on the M2 CS I think this is another clue on the next track pack DLC. ;)

Some thing I forgot:
I would be interested in the difference in AUDI Evo to AUDI Evo2 in-game and the effect of the overall changes mentioned in the change log on maybe even BOP. Will watch Aris' space to get some hints on this hopefully.

I also read that the Honda NSX might been tweaked even more to match the evo22 specs. Not sure how true this is tho, so remains speculation.

Guys? nobody talking about the NSX? According to Reddit it has all the specs of the EVO 2 and even has updated graphics on the inside.
It does feel like an entirely different car now when you drive it.

instant buy, I have tried all the cars, awesome, Kunos strikes again.
GT3/GT4/Porsche cup x2/BMW M2 CS/Ferrari Evo challenge/Lamborghini Trofeo ST x2
Best game, best sound, best classes, best graphics, best FFB, best Dev communication (I like so much Aaris streams).
And it's only 13.8Go on the drive.
Worst graphics imo, can't get used to it, keeps me away from the game. Running everything on Epic on a high refresh monitor with high resolution, still blurry in the distance and not crips image.

Depending on you GPU you can improve image quality.

Choose enable FSR Custom with FSR Sharpness around 50% (might need tweaking). FSR sharpening is much better than base sharpening, difference in clarity is huge especially when steering the car in corners. Next, put resolution scale in the region of 115-125 for start, increase/decrease depending on what your PC handles. For me at 1080p resolution scale at 130 produces a pretty good image but it takes a toll on my GPU.

For stable performance in most scenarios (incl. rain) I use 112 at the moment IIRC with an RX 5700 XT. For dry only, 125-130 is doable with stable framerates (which I lock to 78 via RTSS).

Note 1: In the rain, with AI, when you see a lot of spray, cranking the resolution scale has a massive impact on performance. With high resolution scale above 120 I get very high GPU temperatures as well dips into the 40s FPS. Dry is much more optimized from this aspect.

Note 2: There is a bug in the sim. When you set resolution scale above 100, you restart the sim, you have to go into video settings and save it otherwise in-game the resolution scale will be at 100. You need to do this every time you launch the sim. In the main menu, or on track if you forgot, doesn't matter. I reported it on Kunos forums, it's acknowledged, but hasn't been fixed in the latest patch yet.

Instantly bought, mainly for the Ferrari. It has proved to be a good decision. The Ferrari is a monster!
It's extremely powerful and I'm finding it difficult to drive, the thing just goes too fast! I think I'm going to have to develop a style just for this car.
If you are thinking about skipping this DLC because its 'more of the same' Don't because it just isn't.

hello every one
i'm looking for the steering angle of each new cars of this DLC
it seems that the porsche cup isnt 800°
anyone to provide those infos pls?
thanx

4K 32" Gsync HDR 144hz here + 3090, all epic, it's the best graphics, nothing blurry, all is crisp.
I admit the highest resolution you have, the best it is, can't wait for rtx 7090 and 8K monitor 360hz.

I bought the pack. I'll have to remember to check the cars out when I am on ACC sometime.

All cars free in GT7. Everyone wants the devs locked up and sued. Paid DLC in ACC. Greatest thing ever. I see what's going on here. Lol. I really can't take people here seriously. I'm out....

Once I saw the price I figured I would buy the latest DLC. I have always looked at spending money in the way of getting just a great bit for a small amount of money can be a good bargain. For my money, all I need is two great cars for my $11. I stay away from iRacing in large part because of the cost of upgrade content. For my sim racing needs, this ACC DLC is a bargain when viewed in those contexts.

Would I really like more locations in which to drive the vehicles which are already part of the sim? Yes, but I can wait until the possible summer release, there is so much more for me to perfect in what I have to date on my hard drive.
