Formula 1 is in Austin, Texas this weekend for the United States Grand Prix, with the driver’s championship still very much up for grabs.

Only six races remain in the 2021 Formula 1 season, and the title fight between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton is still tightly contested. The two are separated by just six points entering this weekend, with Verstappen currently holding the lead.

This has been one of the closest battles for the driver’s championship in F1 history, with Hamilton and Verstappen and their respective Mercedes and Red Bull teams both assuming points leads in the championships at various times throughout the season.

The constructor’s championship is far from decided, but Mercedes’ current 30+ point lead seems to be the first sign of one team being the favourite to win so far this season. A late surge in the points from Valtteri Bottas has been the cause of the recent swing in Mercedes’s favour. His rival at Red Bull, Sergio Perez, has struggled lately but did join his teammate on the podium in Turkey.

Mid-pack, the exceptional season for McLaren has given the team in orange a 7.5 point advantage over their Ferrari rivals entering the last six races this year. The MCL35M looks to even have the speed to compete with the dominant Red Bull and Mercedes at various points in recent races. Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz will try and answer back in their Ferrari this weekend, coming off a race in Turkey where both finished in the top 10.

Track temperatures should be hot on Sunday for the race, with sunny conditions forecast and highs of over 30 degrees Celsius. Mercedes has won five of the last six F1 races held at Circuit of the Americas and will hope to put Hamilton on the top podium step to once again take the championship lead.

They arent it just fake...

The world is a hard place but people like you would not held up in a hard world.. you and people like you are trying to soften the world otherwise you cant handle it..
I'm disabled and believe me when I say those with disabilities to just even cope with mundane tasks the abled don't even think about requires so much strength that you clearly cannot comprehend. So have a think of that before you think being disabled mean weak, do you thihnk Zanardi is "weak" that Billy Monger is "weak"....more to the point Casey Stoner has a dibilitating illness is he "weak".

I have said f1 is dead sinds 2011..
The moment drs is on the car its become a fake serie.

So it dont matter if its hamilton or verstappen its for all drivers

Better reading before you react
If you don't care for modern F1, then what are you doing in this forum...

Maldonado is a gp2 champion
Verstappen is not a f3 champion.
Infact verstappen have no championship in a openwheel championship under his belt.

So would you say verstappen got talent or did maldonado have some talent too
Max is a young wdc karting and a bibel full of championships... he drive one first year formula 3 but with a lot of problems that season with the car. A masterclass rain driving on the Noriscring RB give him a contract.. from then all is history.

Then you mis understand me completly.. i never used the words weak thats how your own mind thinks that people like me are saying..

What i say is the lowered the bar.
So its not at the same level for people that can..

In other words saying
The quicker ones needs to slow down so the slowest have a chance and there for its not on the same play ground

Still no championship....
What ever you say dont change the fact

So, you are also saying than when somebody runs a Marathon, if they are not running to their fullest, all the time, they are not 'athletes'?

Chill amigo... :coffee:
Fangio, Clark and Stewart always had to manage their car very carefully because more than 50% of the cars would break down in those days. According to Mr Stoner Fangio, Clark and Stewart were not really good.
Senna, Piquet en Prost often had to manage their fuel during the turbo days.
That's why they can not be the best according to Mr Stoner.
Mr Stoner feels that in a technical sport, the technical aspect should play no role.
He is funny :)

What I say a lot of junoir championships
I said no open wheel championship.
Like a rosberg or even a maldonado did..

Some drivers before they entered f1
They where good or above good drivers.

Some drivers and in this case
Verstappen didnt have a good prior f1 championships and in verstappen case is rare.

But still it dont change the fact he dont have a single openwheel championship his belt even prior f1

Very sad the man was only one year in f3 before he go to Toro Roso.

In other words he dont need a F3 championship to make his dream to F1 contract on his age 16

Are a bandage for problem
They didnt need hem in other classes of motorsport and or quickly removed it gain

Holy moly, there goes another one to the ignore list. I sometimes wonder what idiots live on this planet.
Yeah people like you that follow everthing that you have been told by your favorit commentator.

I watch f1 in english german and in dutch so i hear how bias they all are towards there fellow country men..

In english its all about how your royal highness lord kneeling cant do anything wrong..

In dutch its the freakin same with
Max verstappen.. who really is belgium but thats a hole different topic... super max

In german its kind a bias to mercedes but not the hamilton driven one.

Like all sports welcome in the world I dont like the britisch media hype also

Thats strange i work in the motorsport branche.. as a data engineer..

And you only watch motorsport on tv if i read you comments
You know, i am a engineer myself. I save the replay of some of my races and after i watch them. The best part its that i am intrigued how slow i am. And when i want to be a "super engineer pro deluxe +" i take my rc cars to play and the 5000mah battery only last me 15min and the 2nd car not starting...pfff its a real struggle and i need to put my master degree in engineering to figure out what its wrong.
This its a joke! Like my english.

Yes that is exactly what you said: Max and Lewis are NOT great drivers because managing the tires is not racing.
Well, Senna and Prost had to manage fuel, and Fangio and Clark had to manage every part of the car.
You really have no clue about F1 do you?

DRS etc are needed because AERODYNAMICS have become too important but mainly because the competition is MUCH CLOSER than it ever was.
In the 70s and 80s mostly 70% of the cars would break down. Did this make racing more exciting?
In the 50s and 60s Fangio or Clark would often win with a lap in advance. Races were hardly ever close.
(Yes I know about the few exceptions)
Why not talk about stuff you care about or know something about?
