  • I added a quick pdf "howto" if you want to add a livery.
  • Speed of wear is reduce vs older version. The feeling is better i think.
  • "Cold" tyres temperatures at start is removed.
  • Added alternative for the visual of tyres wear.
  • Cleaning mods files. I recommend starting from a clean version of the game.
  • Updated images on main pages and added "real" grip for tire comparisons and understanding.
A quick "howto" to add a car livery with this mod.

Update of the slipstream effect.

Under slipstream :
  • reduction of the lift coefficient for more realism for F1 cars.
-10% to -25% of grip lost for F1 cars
  • balance of lift and drag part for F2 cars
-20% of grip lost for F2 cars
-25% for the drag coefficient for F2 cars
Hello !

A new and big update for me.
I updated my modeling to achieve several goals: :
  1. to increase the grip of the hardest compounds at the end of their life, while retaining the benefit of softer tires, and of course without losing the multi-stop strategies.
  2. to have more "dynamics" between the tires to feel the difference between HARD, MED and SOFT on each track
  3. "feel" the wear and loss of grip, consistent with the race length. To be more in difficulty towards the "end" of the life of the tires but with a still relevant grip.
  4. have more strategies ... closer in terms of performance, more diversity with the behavior of bots.
  5. to be less penalized when you want to overcut but with some consequences on the lap time.
To do this in a 25% race setting, I used different nonlinear parameters between the grip at the start of each tire, the wear curves and the grip curves, through Matlab and Excel.
The changes between each kind of tyre are more "complex" ...

Compared to the previous version and the original game, the performance you will get will be less, but this is the price to pay to have a more relevant behavior in the race for each tires. I think it's more realistic.
All training goals are achievable, I checked them too.
By default, the game offers a very "flat" tire behavior, without real feeling, it's too simple. You can overperform with tyre at end-of-life, you can overcut without consequence ... :cautious:

The new wear/grip curve is (for F1/F2) :

The initial grip will be :

Example of strategies :

You can see that the 1 stop strategy will be mainly better ... without possibility to use the softer tyre in fact :D . So the last 10 will take it ... for a part. And so, the first 10 will have something very close with a softer one at start. The results will be to several behaviour between bots and many fights after the first pit stop ...
Some tracks will mainly keep a 1-stop strategy like the Silverstone or SPA due to their length.

The big difficulty for me was to keep this diversity of strategies used by bots and performances close between 1 and 2 stops ... and all the points explained before concerning tyres behavior.

I smile when I play with these modifications, hope you will like it too. :p

My next step is to update the 50% version.
- grip and wear slighty updated
- reduction (to 5%) of the effect of wear upgrades to keep some pit stops strategies proposed, after several seasons.
- add mod of Real tire damage for Slicks, Inter and Wets Version 1.3 from micmiller :p did for F1 2020. Works for F1 cars only Slick, Int and Wet tyres.

Soft Wear Tyres Surface.PNG

- Wear updated for F2 cars, for short races (equal or below 25%).
- add a version which include Extreme, Medium and Realistic Damage Mod from Strongestfish :p. (close to "medium" setting) .

So, i did 3 packages :
  1. Tyre compounds for 25% race length, slipstream effect, puncture settings and graphical update of tyres wear. (to be download on this page)
  2. same + Damage Mod (medium)
  3. graphical update of tyres wear only

/!\ Due to the size of the files, i need to split the package and made different post to be able to upload everything on racedepartement.com

This Version is the 1.
