To the un-initiated, The "in-game" RS2000 is actually a '73 to '76 spec RS1600 with a Cosworth BDG alloy block bored to 1975cc to produce it's 285 HP. Whilst it is a lot of fun....I had found the "RS2000" to be a bit edgy.
What I have made here is a 1972 spec RS1600, utilising the Cosworth BDE 1790cc to produce 245HP. These cars still used the older cast iron blocks.
The slight drop in HP is kind to the grip level & slide-ability of the little esky. You will find your lap times will near match those of the "RS2000" on short to mid-length tracks, but you may find your overall race pace may be quicker. If nothing else it may prove to be a good trainer.
The RS1600 BDE competes nicely with other 1972 cars (the unloved GTC-76 orphans) I can identify ie: Capri2600, BMW 2800CS, Porsche 914, Camaro Z28, Nissan Skyline (much-loved), the "wingless" Pantera & the NSU TT (maybe even a '72 spec 911)
Features:
The RS1600 as you will notice is RHD & features a new 8.5 inch front wheel/tyre combination. This gives the RS1600 a subtle change to the 'steam-roller' look of the RS2000.
Credits:
Big thanks to the following for their contributions, a team effort with use of some fine period correct skins & quality Escort mods:
sunalp2 for use of the RHD mod & the 4 stud Minilites (8.5" front 10" rears).
BKYARDA for the use of the BP Yvette Fointaine skin
[SSR]Hoskins for the use of the Broadspeed skin as punted by John Fitzpatrick (of latter Porsche fame)
Rikko for the use of the Don Halliday - New Zealand Freighters skin
Crocko 05 & James1 for advice on modding engine files to suit.
SIMBIN for creating the GT Legends we all enjoy
Known bugs:
on some tracks the graphics of these skins can mirror the bootlid at mid-long distance shots. This may be due to using what were previously LHD skins ??? Sorry but I haven't grasped the art of skinning
Installation notes:
Extracts to you main GTL folder.
They will appear in races when the Porsche 914 is selected.

have fun
cheers
