What i think is not right with RRes physics?!

Msportdan

@Simberia
FINAL UPDATE!
hhhhmmmmmmm so i gave the DTMs on RF2 a try last night and just fell for them, so nice to drive feels natural nice FFB and weight in wheel.

Go ahead and i put RRe and it just feels wrong, (even with my new settings) the middle of the wheel feel loose/light and has no ffb. Its horrid.. Unless you have the wheel turned its just poor. Only way i can really cure this is turn up steering force, then i start getting the "auto" bloody straighten wheel assist or whatever it is. (possibly too much forcing the other way)

I have come to the conclusion (as apart from buying a new wheel) that this is a great game etc, but when played with another sim with better physics, you can notice it so much more. Its to a point its off putting.

Maybe a possibility of a minumum force setting? Well since not one dev has commented on it it must just be me, or im being ignored, it doesnt really matter as so many people think the FFB are bang on "ppffft" lol.

So for me there is STILL something that isnt quite right about RRe physics etc.... and until S3 fix this (floaty around the centre feel) ill stand by my OP, because ive given up searching for the "sweet spot"!

ORIGINAL POST
I tried something on the way home in my car (f20 125i msport bmw rwd). Ive never really would say I practice sim driving on the road. I tried swerving left and right really quickly. Which is something ive been comparing in the sims im playing. I know this sounds silly, but I remember someone saying how good a set of physics are by, aggressively going left and right and see if the tyres slip (bite and slip ) as you get faster and more intense.

To my surprise (okay I wasn't do track speeds but its all relative) my cars was quite sharp on its front end, they front tyres felt connected to the road and there wasn't much roll in the car. (probs due to the msport suspension) only as I got faster did the tyres start to slip, but that is also 220bhp through the rear.

Anyway I got in and tried the Wttc bmw, which is a tad similar okay no where near but you know what I mean. To my dismay the race spec car felt horrid, it felt squishy on it front suspension felt quite numb up front, and felt like this was the road car.!! When you do the motion I was doing In my car you get a sort of a sway going, like a pendulum effect. THIS IS WHATS KILLING RRE FOR ME. many a times ive popped out of a slipstream and ive had this awrkward sway feeling. Sorry it feels wrong, You don't feel like your connected to the road the suspension doesn't feel responsive and confidence isn't gained this way.

So I tried another sim that im getting back into at the mo (excusing its dire AI) and that's AC. I popped into the BMW m3 (another similar car) and tried the old swerve down the Monza straight ... and there it was that felt like my car.. and it did. it felt responsive tyres dug and bit like a tyre under load, I could feel the suspension doing its work....and I wont lie it felt like I was driving my car, just a bit more of an expensive version lol.

obviously in both sims and in real life if I kept the throttle and swerving up I would end up in heading the other way. But in RRE its that transition between getting into the slide, and the feeling of that bite. The feeling of the front end on cars and suspension, just isn't felt imo in RRe. Okay setups could help, but it feels to far deep to fix purely by setups.

Look im not here to bash, its purely critism, that I think S3, if they wanted to could sort out and make this shine. You guys know im a backer of RRe..

beta tester for s3e..;have been for ages , so yes i have more info than you ;

so do me a favour cut your attitude as it sucks , try to stay polite and stop trying to cause arguements based on your opinion on how things work and negating anything that even when factual you deem not important ...

ok ?

understood ?

i need to repeat it ?

Andi

wow

did you actually read what you just wrote ?

honestly ?
really?

you start contrary ,change to dominant, move to trying to belittle and insult and finish off defensive ....;

i have stated all along that opinion is that , just opinion , are there bugs ; yep **** loads , is there problems with the ffb yes , disconnects , various feelings in different sessions , are the shadows **** , yep does the game eat more than it should ....yep are the physics correct ...doubt it (but is any GAME)

so when anyone posts an issue ; a bug , something not quite right ...... we report across , send in a report, try to duplicate it , try to answer questions , try to be honest and reasonable ... are we paid ..;nope , we are sim racers who have enough time to try and help

But what you do and obviously dot realise is you make it sound like your opinion is fact , its fact for you maybe , but not general ...as many people have various issues some are the same but some are opposite ; they all have equal importance , but if someone disagrees you try to put them down (reread your text and youll see)

Remember the game is in beta , sometimes that will be bad sometimes not so bad and sometimes good , but people are listening , people are trying to help/duplicate;find solutions , help....but please stop the bombastic and rufde approach , dont belittle or insult thats all

okay andi, fair doos ..

I couldn't resist the PC world deal on the g27 at 140£ so I picked it up. Admittely it feels much better than the DFGT, im even increasing steer force to 150 as it seems to control these forces better. Whats a wheel, and as I said on other thread loving the clutch h box shifting even ono gt cars. The middle floaty feeling is still somewhat there, although much better than the dfgt. Maybe that's the Logitech 107% ffb issue.

But neverless this wheel seems to be better on the FFB, im not saying its 100% right just feels better with a higher budget wheel.

Best of luck with your new wheels, guys! I'm excited for you.

Brandon, you are going to love that wheel. I have the TX, myself. Now start saving up for the TH8 shifter. You'll eventually want pedals too. It's an addiction.;)

I noticed this line in the RF2 controller file that may help us in RRE.

"Steering torque minimum":0,
"Steering torque minimum#":"Minimum torque to apply in either direction to overcome steering wheel's 'FFB deadzone' caused by friction",

this I think will help the middle floatiness we are experiencing.

FORCE FEEDBACK EFFECT SETTINGS:
Engine Vibrations: 20%
Brake Vibrations: 25%
Kerb Vibrations: 15%
Shift Effect: 40%
Good Vibrations: 100%

I turned my good vibrations up to 165% and everything feels different now. love it!

just bought a TX, wow turned RRE around for me.... bye bye DFGT sorry

Congratulations, Dan!!

Many years of good use to you. I believe it's the best wheel in that price point. I'd be interest to hear your settings in R3E.

Let us know when you're looking for pedals and a shifter. I highly recommend the TH8 and a set of Fanatec pedals (CSR Elites).

A question about the curbs, are they supposed to be so slippery?
Some curbs can't be used at all. For instance, pretty much all the inside curbs at Nurburg GP or some curbs at Hockenheim (especially the one in the last turn). I've just watched some real life footage of 2014 DTM and they use the curbs (and the last one) quite often.
But I really don't dare touching them, even not coasting.

I took the TX back as it had problems and bought the GTE t300 wheel..

simply put amazing with RRE.. belt driven ffb is the way fwd imo... and you cant go back..!

just got through (brilliant by "shop.to" btw, received in under 24 hrs)
This wheel imo is miles better than the TX. The wheel feels more quality heavier and looks like it could come out of a real GT car. Installation perfect no problems, its works everytime I unplug or restart pc, so im well happy.!!
Top wheel as said above about FFB its perfect and the slightly heavier wheel has made this not feel like a toy like the TX did. Due to its light wheel. Im really happy. Its worth the extra 70£ by far.
Just having to get to grips with the pedals atm, especially the brake. Theres a bit of a deadzone on the pedals.
I also need to find a way to secure it better to the floor. just pushed up against plug extension box seemed to fix lol My wheel also sees as a t300RS in properties but you do see the GTE wheel in the settings menu profiler.
Im chuffed really, just hope this lasts.

You really need these:
http://www.fanatec.com/eu-en/pedals/csr-elite-pedals-eu.html
The brake takes some getting used to, but the biggest change for me compared with the DFGT pedals is the accelerator; the Logitech pedals feel almost digital, or like a switch. With the CSRs I can precisely feed in nice smooth power.
BTW, I bought a G27, and while it`s an improvement on the GFGT, I`m still getting that centre deadzone and the horrible centreing effect. I now bypass R3Es FFB settings altogether, which should not be necessary.
