What i think is not right with RRes physics?!

FINAL UPDATE!
hhhhmmmmmmm so i gave the DTMs on RF2 a try last night and just fell for them, so nice to drive feels natural nice FFB and weight in wheel.

Go ahead and i put RRe and it just feels wrong, (even with my new settings) the middle of the wheel feel loose/light and has no ffb. Its horrid.. Unless you have the wheel turned its just poor. Only way i can really cure this is turn up steering force, then i start getting the "auto" bloody straighten wheel assist or whatever it is. (possibly too much forcing the other way)

I have come to the conclusion (as apart from buying a new wheel) that this is a great game etc, but when played with another sim with better physics, you can notice it so much more. Its to a point its off putting.

Maybe a possibility of a minumum force setting? Well since not one dev has commented on it it must just be me, or im being ignored, it doesnt really matter as so many people think the FFB are bang on "ppffft" lol.

So for me there is STILL something that isnt quite right about RRe physics etc.... and until S3 fix this (floaty around the centre feel) ill stand by my OP, because ive given up searching for the "sweet spot"!

ORIGINAL POST
I tried something on the way home in my car (f20 125i msport bmw rwd). Ive never really would say I practice sim driving on the road. I tried swerving left and right really quickly. Which is something ive been comparing in the sims im playing. I know this sounds silly, but I remember someone saying how good a set of physics are by, aggressively going left and right and see if the tyres slip (bite and slip ) as you get faster and more intense.

To my surprise (okay I wasn't do track speeds but its all relative) my cars was quite sharp on its front end, they front tyres felt connected to the road and there wasn't much roll in the car. (probs due to the msport suspension) only as I got faster did the tyres start to slip, but that is also 220bhp through the rear.

Anyway I got in and tried the Wttc bmw, which is a tad similar okay no where near but you know what I mean. To my dismay the race spec car felt horrid, it felt squishy on it front suspension felt quite numb up front, and felt like this was the road car.!! When you do the motion I was doing In my car you get a sort of a sway going, like a pendulum effect. THIS IS WHATS KILLING RRE FOR ME. many a times ive popped out of a slipstream and ive had this awrkward sway feeling. Sorry it feels wrong, You don't feel like your connected to the road the suspension doesn't feel responsive and confidence isn't gained this way.

So I tried another sim that im getting back into at the mo (excusing its dire AI) and that's AC. I popped into the BMW m3 (another similar car) and tried the old swerve down the Monza straight ... and there it was that felt like my car.. and it did. it felt responsive tyres dug and bit like a tyre under load, I could feel the suspension doing its work....and I wont lie it felt like I was driving my car, just a bit more of an expensive version lol.

obviously in both sims and in real life if I kept the throttle and swerving up I would end up in heading the other way. But in RRE its that transition between getting into the slide, and the feeling of that bite. The feeling of the front end on cars and suspension, just isn't felt imo in RRe. Okay setups could help, but it feels to far deep to fix purely by setups.

Look im not here to bash, its purely critism, that I think S3, if they wanted to could sort out and make this shine. You guys know im a backer of RRe..

So when you return the wheel its not loose (akin to being on ice)

Not at all.
I even had to lower some settings because I had hard time to go back and forth on quick sequences.

But, it's normal that the wheel is easy to turn to go back to the center, at this moment FFB should give you a little help as the forces on the tires want to make them go straight. It's when you pass the center point of the wheel that you'll have some opposite force.

On Fanatec Wheel (as mine) you have a settings call "Drift". When you use it, the wheel helps you on quick rotation with so you can turn the wheel faster (that's why it's call Drift, because it's mainly something you need for drifting :p ). It has nothing to do with in-game settings.
Don't know if there's something like that on logitech wheels.

this!!! is what i dont get on my wheel. Its all just too loose, doesnt help the driving and enforces the floaty/boaty feeling im having. I dont think it should be that easy to return the wheel either, i have a new 1-series bmw, and i have more force in that than i get in rre, and that s power assisted.

I have no drift setting on a DFGT.
:(

Ok, just compared to my previous settings, and Andi's definitely give me more feel of the front tires, and stiffer steering (which is what Dan is looking for I guess).

Do note that I didn't use the file directly, but copied the FFB-section to my control-file. I also changed my wheel setting to 900/33.

its not weight transfer it feels like mass LOSS of feel and traction.. (as i say like ice)
UPDATE
I have noticed when you turn the wheels its like the game (when left alone the wheel) the game tries to straighten up for you automatically. I get like a snapping feeling in the wheel.
im dead set about getting this fixed.

okay ive mad a video that's focused on the tyre and its movement when making the kinda of movements ive been on about.

Notice how the wheel slight jinks, left and right quickly. Im not even making that motion..
The last two examples before corner show this the most. Looks "as I said above" the game is trying to correct up straight for you.?!

just before the 100 mtr mark near end of clip, is a great example. Sorry not great quality but you can see the stripes rotating. To be honest this probs wont help as hard to see. But this is me doing simple left to right sweeps, yet there is a another movement from game, im not in control of.

cmon sector 3 please help me.. Ive contributed so much information.. Is it my wheel or a hidden assist in game.?

p,.s centering is off in Logitech profile.

errrr... so turning off inverted FFB just has made this miles better!!!!!! now feel more natural.! Ok the wheel feels light turning in but when the tyre grips and you return the wheel it feels much better.
FFB 100%
understeer 100% ( seeing how this is effected on inverted ffb)
Inverted FFb no
Smoothing 10%
Steering rack 25%
Lat/ver 200% (may tweak)
Steering force down to 20%.

lock 540/14
100% centre value in logitch profiler (MUST)

Set game allows adjust settings. I set everything to 0% just in case apart from centre value.
wow it feels miles better,!!! I can feel the tyres scrubbing now

if only S3 could give more force to the wheel without sacrificing the above, I may just have found the cure lol and my wheel depending on the elevation of track will stay in a straight line!!..

OMG!! ive fixed it and now it feel bloody awesome!!!!! im so happy lol

ive enabled 100% centre value into my profiler, now this feels like Im driving a race car wow.. this counters the loose feel of the inverted ffb, now it feels real!!!!

holy crap lol!!!!

it may seem unorthodox to most my settings but trust me please..

Just when I started to get back in RF2 ...lol

Ever since you have been pursuing this, Ive been curious and messing around with the FFB and will have to try this out later since we both share the same wheel. In a week or so I plan on getting the Fanatec pedals and after holidays one of there wheels.

I believe there is a wrong and a right. Grand Prix Legends was (is) a game based on 1960s GP cars. Those cars were so hard to drive that it was an achievement just getting round a corner, let alone an entire track (and 1 in 3 drivers ended up dead). This was perfectly simulated in the game. Except the death bit of course.
As a result, the game sold relatively few copies, although those that stuck with it were fanatical (and still are). GPL required several major patches to make it accessible to anyone other than hardcore simmers. I recently re-purchased the game, downloaded various patches and mods, and found it quite fun to drive; completely different from my experience in 1998 when it was first released. My point is this: Making cars as difficult to handle as they are in real life (such as the WTCC cars) can backfire, by alienating a percentage of possible customers, customers who don`t want to spend hours messing with steering ratios etc.
Does this look extremely difficult to you? (watch from 3:00 on)
It shouldn't. Hell, a Formula Ford even tops this on difficulty level.

this could be a DFGT specific problem, but I would like to hear other wheel owners to try the above and tell me it doesn't feel better. im that confident..

From what ive looked up and searched, it seems it is a logitech issue. Many tests and reviews of new wheels state that this was an old issue with logitech wheels and not so on the new brands.

They talk about the center deadzone it has, which seems kinda specific with what we are feeling, and I guess with this sim its more obvious maybe than others. I tried your settings, but maybe im not getting something right. Could you maybe post your rcs. file? and your logitech profile settings completely. If its possible.
