Marco Massarutto of Kunos Simulazioni has posted a very interesting picture on Facebook, prompting speculation that new Alfa Romeo content could be heading to Assetto Corsa soon...

The mystery post from Massarutto highlights one of the more ambitious and rare historic cars of Alfa Romeo's rich heritage, the visually (and audibly) stunning Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale.

Posted as part of his personal Facebook account, Massarutto confirms the brilliant little 33 Stradale will be "coming soon to Assetto Corsa", prompting some speculation as to if the car will be released as a standalone vehicle or part of a wider Alfa Romeo DLC package further down the line.

Produced between 1967 and 1969, Alfa manufactured just 18 examples of this high performance mid engine sports car and represents Alfa's intention to build a racing car for the road. Based on the foundations laid down by the Autodelta Alfa Romeo Tipo 33, the car immediately achieved near legendary status amongst motorcar enthusiasts.

Despite having been built during the early days of performance road car manufacture in the late 1960's, the 33 Stradale was still capable of achieving an incredible 0-60 mph in under 5.5 seconds and retailed from new for $17,000 - now thought to be in excess of $10,000,000 for a clean example of the vehicle.

Technical Specifications

Engine:
90° V8 DOHC
Displacement: 1,995 cc (121.7 cu in)
Power :230 bhp (170 kW) at 8,800 rpm
Torque: 200 N·m (150 lb·ft) at 7,000 rpm
Top speed: 260 km/h (160 mph)
0–97 km/h (0-60 mph): 5.5 seconds

Massarutto nor the Assetto Corsa team themselves have confirmed any release dates or pricing structure for the new DLC as of yet, however stay tuned to RaceDepartment to find out more as and when it becomes available.

NoXiD, that's however the general problem of open servers in any simulator. I remember even in GPL, the sim that had the biggest number of custom tracks of all sims ever, the damn Monza was still the most popular track online and one had to join the league to get equal driving time on some other circuits.

I'm absolutely sure even if AC had three times more official tracks available, Spa nad Monza would still be driven the most, at least on public servers.

About features something is moving:
Lord Kunos:
Hello,

Following the discussions during last weekend we had a meeting today and I am pleased to tell you that we decided to make Custom Button Mapping the focus for the next Assetto Corsa update (ie. not the one currently going with Custom Lobby, the one after).

Thanks to all the people involved in the reports, our hope is to correctly interpret the wishes of the community
.

About Alfa, I love them but I doubt will be enough to bring me back to play AC...
Seriously? Custom button mapping? I mean this is a good thing and needed, but people have asked for this for over a year now. What do these guys do all day? I think I know: Sit outside the café and sip espresso. And honestly adding additional cars is not a huge deal for them. It's a safe bet that they have hired at least a couple of the mod creators that have proven themselves to be very talented. Ever see some of the free Assetto car mods out there? Some are amazing. So Assetto contacts them and says, build us a new Alfa. (While they sip espresso) and they guy builds it. He submits it, tweaks it and they pay him. Then they announce: New Alfa to be released soon. (While sipping espresso) What have they done in the meantime? 1 year or more to take care of button mapping. Amazing.

Thank you for sharing your insight on how it works at Kunos, I, for one, had no ideas that this was how it worked.

Threads like this crack me up :O_o:

Something is announced that's due to be released, and all the people who aren't interested suddenly feel the need to tell everyone how much they don't like it

I'm going to go shopping tomorrow, walk into the first clothing shop I come to and complain that they sell skinny jeans, as I do not like skinny jeans so how dare they sell them :whistling:
Actually, according to your way of thinking, here is a better idea. When something like this is mentioned we'll say nothing. When there are problems with a game, we'll say nothing. When there are forums, specifically designed to give information and allow us to give our 'opinion' we won't give our opinion. Only you'll be allowed because you have something nice to say. This way they devs won't have any idea what we want and what we like or don't like. They'll just guess and we won't buy. Hey everyone, we all know that the guys from Kunos read these forums so let's keep them guessing from now on. Why make a game better and add features that we hope for. If a game is lacking, let's all keep our mouths shut and just let the title fail. According to Fat Alfie, this is the right way to go.

oh dear oh dear

there are some border line racist comments now, is this really what sim racing is about, get a grip of reality please - the only true statement made here is the sipping espresso part (worked with many Italians) and even this is a sweeping generalisation

i need to stop ready this thread now

You are trying to be particularly obtuse with your argument  I never mentioned problems - of course we should speak out about issues with the game. And it's not about only saying 'nice things' to Kunos. I just see no point in coming on the forum and saying "Don't release car XYZ because I don't like it!". Kunos have a marketing department, they are not stupid, they can work out what sells without you having a mini-fit and telling them you don't want a certain car :O_o: You don't have to behave like a petulant child to get your point across ;)

the good thing about living in holland is their nice, creamy and long black coffee. It lasts much longer than an espresso both to make and to drink.. and that allows me to waste much more time doing nothing all day.. I love it!

You are a seriously lucky chap, Such a great place to live in my opinion. I would love to be doing nothing all day and sipping coffee or tea in my case, i'm such a cultural stereotype

More information from the Alfie-Meister. Complaining that you don't want new cars, but you want more content=Petulant child. Ok, everyone, please note this.

Boy I can't wait for this new Alfa=Team player, now accepted by Alfie.
