I started this tutorial some months ago on RaceSimCentral, but after a while the graphics were lost. At the moment even the startpost was gone.

Recovered the text and reformatted it into a PDF.

Hope it is still useful for our members.

Really great, but I think you can get better Skins with Vector based Lines, if they are wrong you can Edit them in seconds :) I know for the beginning its not so easy but work with them and you get a great feeling :) Have a look at here, and you know what I mean :) http://www.webdesign.org/web/photoshop/photoshop-basics/photoshop-paths-made-easy.5451.html

And here: http://www.webdesign.org/web/photos...-tool-to-extract-or-make-selection.16168.html

And here:

I think thats enough :)

And insert logos from ai or eps files as Smart Objects, then you can easy transform them without qualiti loss :)

If doing this in Photoshop CS3 do you need a DDS converter still? In other guides I do no recall seeing any other tools needed besides a paint program that supports the files.

This is regarding GTR-Evolution skins.

Thanks for the tut !

At least now I am able to get a custom skin in game.
I am still absolutely clueless in regards of working with Photoshop and hence I won't produce anything stunning at all but it is fun to be able to piss about a bit now with the knowledge I will actually be able to see it ingame.

Guess I now just have to go hunt for some guides in terms of working with PS and specific stuff that applies to making skins.

If anyone has a usefull link that will set me on the right track, please !

Thanks

Hi Peter, get into the habit of saving the psd (just as backup), and then use the "Layers -> Flatten Image" command.

Once the psd is flat (ie no layers) you can save it out as a DXT5 dds.

Because flattening loses all the layers, that's why you save the psd first. :)
