Season 9 - General Discussion

(...) I have the raw files for another 2 weeks untill then I can make changes, but now Im off to Barcelona for a week so I

I too think it is a perfect movie, possibly the best I have ever seen at PrestoGP. I think it would be great to include it in the "promo"package" that hopefully will attract many new people. I even like that you included the crash in the start of the Barcelona race, because that is a vital part of being a PrestoGP league memver, to take such a rear, unfortunate and unlucky occation as a man.

If I should come with any suggestion to the video, perhaps including the fact that Reik's season 8 win was his 4th in a row, underlining the ultimate challenge of Presto GP :)

(I wonder how Reik's decent nature handles this post in regards to like or not, if you get my point ;) )

This should be close to final calander with some tracks undecided Scott  hope you can fit it in.

I hope to see you in the sign ups list Scott!!! ;) (When sign ups open)

Just stay tuned here in the meantime. I'm sure there'll be one or few fun events sooner or later. And when season 9 start comes closer there may be serious tests then which could especially help the new comers to get comfortable with our rules and drivers.

Hi Reik, driving is not a problem i have experience with this mod before, but yes joining a new league with totally new drivers is new territority for me, i have always driven with the same old crowds on Race07 / and GSC / rFactor , i'll definetly be up for this since the league is starting quite late during the year, it should be absolutely fine.

Kennet, test driver? no thank you, im a all out racer, go for the gap or you'll no longer a racing driver (however it's not that easy) i like the competition. :)

Something that came to mind. If we manage to dig deeper in to the "noob-zone" and get the 2nd division running, what about us? I mean me, who is on the edge, not sure which one i should be? The thought of maybe running in the lead or close to it, sounds good. I have very little practice of leading races, mostly i take a good start, overtake a lot in the first 2 laps and then defend. But if we get people who are not so experienced, there may come mistakes. That's almost guaranteed, i make mistakes in the lead all the time. In the back, not so much, i got experience..

Should we, old members be granted 1div position if we so choose? Since we all could drive a season with each other and the races were succesfull events.. Maybe even a deadline, before race three you should know which one you take...

Fun event: What should we do, i'm itching to get some action. Something where it's mot so serious, shorter races with a forced pitstop, without limiter of course (if someone can't produce a good estimation on pit limiter benefits soon.. Need to start wrapping things up..) I'm willing to sacrifice Cicada as testing ground for new members, maybe put a hotlap challenge, dry condition and then race. Or two events: dry and then damp/rain condition, i can produce a custom weather for that, i know the track and climate.. Same pattern in practice and race..?

Same track, two events, decreases the practice amount. Running two servers, public with default content and Cicada pre-season testing? There's good mix of corners, it's my personal test-track and created as such ffs.. It could be a good testing ground, it's new to all, challenging enough to create time differences. IMHO, if you can drive F1 car solid lap after lap there, you can drive it anywhere. Eats tires, lo downforce, hi speed with few twists. Sacrifice DF and 1st sector to get 2nd and 3rd sector better, teaches how to use setup right.

I hope that everybody wish to race where their pace fits the best. I forsee that with a 2nd division many of the current div 1 drivers would be racing there, and preferably this would be their desire as well.

As I have said in earlier post, I think people are mistaken when they think that all new drivers are slow, the truth is probably far from it. Therefore, if everybody currently in div 1 should stay there, and all new fast guys join div 1 as well there is not much left for div 2.

I am hoping for a clear cut based on general pace, no point in having a driver that dominates div 2, nor with a driver that is too slow for div 1.

Remember, just because one are "slow" does not mean one are not capable of completing a race without mistakes.

i will say one thing, it does not matter how fast you are, it's all about consistency in these races, that's what makes you finish the race, that is what make's it more enjoyable, if anything i don't like driver's who are very fast and think they have the right of way, i have seen it in so many games :) , but im guessing you chaps are use to eachother and know eachother's racing style, something which i will pick up fast im sure of it :)

Yes, this is what we value; pace is irrelevant as long as you are competitive with someone else (only if you are the slowest one in the league and half a sec or so behind the second slowest it becomes valueable to increase pace from the league perspective, but even in this situation consistency comes first).

I usually say that the best test to see if you are ready for a race is to see if you can do 10 laps in a row with less than a second between fastest and slowest lap.

I will make sure that all new members are aware of this, that we want members that focus on consistency, not pace. Pace is a luxury one can look at once consistency is a given.

Some nice warmup races for newbies with a few seasoned veterans would be nice to see how we do. I am just getting to grips with setting these up so that they a nice and stable, still a long way to go on some tracks. Could someone tell me what wheel rotation and steering lock you use in these? I'm on 720 degree with 18 lock and am finding it hard to turn in chicanes. Have tried lock upto 26 but my old arms don't move quick enough and the more lock I use the easier and quicker I spin.

im using a g25 with 270 degrees in logitech profiler. ingame i use a steering lock of between 14 and 15.5, with 15.5 being for a monaco type track.

id be confident in saying most will use roughly the same with f1 cars.

id also be happy to go for a race or two during the off season, would be good to let newer members know roughly what to expect and to get a rough idea of some of our driving styles.
