And Viljar takes the checkered flag in Adelaide, after a lively return visit, with two safety car periods and a last lap battle for the lead with Sauber's Omer Said. Omer said :)P) after the race:
"Everyone thought the Jaguars and the Jordans would run away with it. I showed them today that is not the case"

~REPORT~
And the 2003 Australian Grand Prix is GO! Great start by pole sitter Ben Tusting, moving over to the right for the Senna Chicane, down the straight, and braking heavily at Wakefield corner. At the end of the first lap, Ben Tusting leads from Sebastien Levret, Honk third, Omer Said fourth, and Bert Van Waes in fifth. At the start of lap six, Ben Tusting is on the charge, the fastest man on the track. But, what’s that! A drunk man, swaying from side to side, Fosters in hand has made his way onto the track, and is running across the road like a madman!

At the end of Lap 11, the drunk now in an ambulance and heading for hospital after being wrestled to the ground by some brave marshals, the race continues. Immediately Sebastien Levret tries to get past Ben Tusting, nearly smashing in to his gearbox. But, on lap 20, after much hounding, Tony Purnell gets on the radio to Levret “you have a puncture mate, pit in this lap”. Dropped all the way down to the back, he had a lot of work to be doing. By Lap 28, fifth place Viljar Parts is now the fastest man on the track. Everyone is one stopping meaning that this is the crucial part of the race. Bert Van Waes is the last to pit on Lap 33, and at the end of the pitstops, Ben Tusting is still the leader, with Honk second, Omer Said third and Viljar Parts in fourth.
On Lap 41, Rhys Gardiner’s driveshaft fails, planting him straight into the wall at Wakefield at very high speed. Ben Tusting swerves to avoid him, hits the wall, knocking the front wing off. Luckily for him the safety car comes out, planting him in a net eighth. Rhys is not moving, but further inspection shows he had only minor bruises but is unconscious. He is taken to the medical center.

On Lap 47, with just 13 laps remaining the race restarts, and Honk is immediately under pressure from Omer Said’s Sauber and Viljar Parts’ Jordan. By Lap 50, sensing that Said was about to take both of them off, lets Omer through, though he lifts off a little more than he intends too and Viljar Parts nips past too. With just four laps to go, Viljar is on it, moving with Omer inch for inch, unable to make a move. It takes until the final lap for Viljar to get past, ducking and diving, finally jumping past at the second to last corner. Viljar wins from Omer, with Honk a distant third.
