Test Day finished.

~Report~

And the Jerez test day opens for the cars, or the few that are left in F1 anyway. But the rain begins to fall, and within the first few minutes there is no dry track left. Peter Duivilaar is brave (or foolish) enough to bite the bullet, and sets a measley 1.40.9, but in the torrential rain, he is left partially unsighted and, ironically, hits the wall at the Curva Dry Sac. The car is badly damaged, and the Jordan team announce that they will retire from the test day. The session is Red Flagged to allow for clearer weather and to pick up left over Jordan.

As the session restarts, The Jaguar super team both take too the track. Levret sets a 1.23.5 and is matched by teammate Honk. The Sauber's of newcomer Omer Said and bduddy post 1.23.7 and 1.23.9's respectivly. The Williams' fail to turn up, although Frank was quoted as saying "We have a surprise up our sleeves, don't you worry!". The BAR of Van Waes sets a measley 1.24.5.

And all the drivers leave for the final few minutes of test time. Bert Van Waes is the first to cross the finish line with an impressive 1.23.2 to go provisional top. Levret's Jaguar is the second, and he records a 1.23.0 which is a NEW LAP RECORD!. Bduddy's Sauber scores a 1.23.1 with Said a fraction slower on a 23.2. But Williams' surprise package is.... Ben Tusting, who Patrick Head confirmes has been signed for a second sucessive season. He posts a time a tenth quicker than his teammate Rhys. But the final man to cross the line is Honk. He sets a 1.22.956 which beats Honk by half-a-tenth. Roll on 2003!

And the cars are lining up on the grid....

2003 IS GO GO GO GO GO! (Feature Race)
