Cheers mister man

Mate you could take a train up to Aberdeen, sneak in my house at night and stick big 8ft. x 8ft. banners with my cars written in 5ft. letters and maybe even have a special kitchen lino made up with it printed there too in Day-Glo orange......and i would still get all confused :).

Well the end of this GTC 72 series. I joined the GTL club at the start of this series and have never looked back. I have really enjoyed all the cars/events and even got to run the last couple of races in S4 of the league. Thanks Stu, you really do put on a good show, also thanks to all the drivers I've raced against in this series you have made it a real pleasure and taught me a lot about driving these cars.

Now down to tonights races:
Race 1, Skyline GTR: this is a great car and so nice to drive now I have the hang of GTL, well nearly, and used a setup that someone done to tame the beast in her. After a good start I found myself on the outside of Stu who was on the outside of Knut, I belive, all heading to T1. As I didn't want to make a silly mistake or cause any problems I back out before T1 as it looked like it was going to be who would be lastest on the brakes. Now as the race unfolded I found myself a second or two behind Warren and set about reducing the gap or a least hanging onto the back of him. As the laps came down so did the gap as tyres were getting worn and Warren making a few little mistakes. As I pushed hard to close the gap so my tyres got squirmy and I lost a bit to Warren. It's now lap 11 and I decided to push on as only a few laps to go if I wanted to challange Warren and by lap 12 I was right on his tail. Unbeknown to me, as I was ingrossed in the battle, Neil had also caught us and made a move on me at the hairpin which resulted in me going off. This left Warren to push on without anyone challenging him and like the gentlemen we are Neil waited for me to re-join the track and off we went. The next lap Neil went past in his Escort and I think I came home in 8th. Great race and no probs with the contact Neil as it was really my fault as I didn't realise anyone was catching us.

Race 2, Escort RS: qualied 2nd behind Warren, got a good start and took the lead and held it until the end. This was my first GTL win and although I didn't have anyone to fight with, which made it quite a lonely race, it felt good as I never throw it away like I have done in the past. yep yep hooray.

Thanks Stu for an awsome series and a great event. Thanks to all who raced tonight, with out you there would be no GTL club, thanks to RD. Now for the Elite series, can't wait.

awesome cars again but no luck for me today.

I don't know all cars from GTL yet and didn't much practicing before this event.
Just little vette testing. But the vette I tested looked and felt very different then the vette on the server.

quali 1:
the vette didn't fell right and so I was far behind.
race 1:
I didn't push for everything and just wanted a clean race. I drove behind brown for a couple of laps and we had a nice fight.
After I got him on the straight I lost the car in T1 and was last :(. But after some laps Roman joined me and we had a nice battle
until the end me ending last.

quali 2:
the bmw was much better for this track but didn't know the car and was last in quali.
race 2:
had a good start and it seemed we would have a bmw battle at the end of the field. After some laps neil was in front of me.
unfortunately he was spooky and sometimes he was not visible. (maybe it was my connection because I lost connection to the
server later on). the first time he jumped behind me and right back in front. The second time he disappeared and I crashed.
Luckily only I crashed. So I was last again and driving some lonely laps until I lost connection.
(never had connection problems before :( )

After all was not so successful night for me. But I'm looking forward to the GTL league.

cya next time

More fun again, GTL never fails to produce enjoyable racing. This is a really nice track, and quite a challenge for some of the slidey cars.
Race 1: BMW: Chose the Beemer first since it seemed very nice to handle here, the Escort had me a bit concerned, so I thought I'd work up to that car. The BMW was a real pleasure to drive, didn't quite have the speed of some other cars but handled beautifully. Qualified about P7 ish, and latched onto Stuart's tail for a few laps but then ran into the fence at the tight right hander, dropping me back in front of Bob. We had a good race together for most of the race but I was able to hold a small gap that was very slowly reducing. Looking at my XD, I could see Neil catching us both quickly, and just as the three of us bunched up into the hairpin, Bob and Neil touched, sending both into the kittylitter. From then it was a lonely cruise to finish P6.
Grats to Amir for the win, and WD to Gary and Steven (who almost had this in the bag  ).

Race 2: Escort: I must admit, this car put the wind up me during practice, a tricky devil indeed. Managed to keep it under control to grab pole in Qualy, but by now, everyone is well aware of my lengendary starting prowess  . I'm sure Gary, behind me, was fully prepared.
Sure enough, totally bogged it down off the line, sigh!! AGAIN  . Immediately dropped to P4 and into a tight scrap behind Philip. I managed to pull off a slipstream pass on Philip down the main straight in lap 2, but Bob and Gary had bolted to a 4 second lead already. As they battled for the lead, I was starting to haul them in, but then Gary had a "porsche spin", and that allowed Bob to settle in and dictate terms up front. The gap stayed pretty constant at around 4 to 5 secs all race, and Bob wasn't making any noteable errors. Over the closing stages, Bob slowed, trying to eek his fuel out, allowing me to finish right on his tail.
Grats to Bob, a very good win, and WD to Stu for third.

Thanks Stu for yet another enjoyable event, and thanks to all who joined us.

Thnx for the races tonight guys i really enjoyed myself and managed to finish both races, think i got 7th in both of them, not fantastic results but i am delighted just to have finished both races in what i think was only around my 3rd GTL race and the other 2 being a couple of years ago, but i know i will be looking for more of them.

I loved the Escort, especially the way you felt on edge with it all the time, it felt lively and you really had to be careful under braking, the BMW unlike others i found a bit dull, maybe if i had spent a bit more time tweaking it would of been a different story, but one thing is for sure it can take a big hit and keep on going as when i ran through the smoke into Gary then got tail ended from the car behind who did the same i thought it was game over but no the tank just kept on going as if nothing much had happened

So thnx all till the next time

From the sublime.....to the ridiculous....

The sublime was the Opel GT1900,a very freindly little stable platform right from the word go,started 2nd and had a lovely little squabble with Amir to just keep a hold of that place, but it didnt last too long when i almost had a drastic off at the top of the big fast right uphill sweeping turn exit, dropped to 4th there behind a BMW and had some fun there too fighting back to 3rd,and i was sure that was about my lot there really until lap 13 i see the lad Palmer limping out the gravel at the hairpin!,i nip past in to 2nd with a little bit of gap as a bonus,i notice Amir seems to be struggling a bit up front now,but never by enough so a happy 2nd place.

The riciculous was that Porsche.....i tweaked away through practice and thought i had come to some kind of agreement with the car,got an ok qual lap in for 3rd start and got a real good launch, but just not enough to have the lead so tucked in on Hutcho's back bumper, all was going nice as i could hang on to the Escort well early on,but it seemed like only 3 or 4 laps in i got a little sort of warning that things could be going wrong, nothing big, just a little wobble and wide moment which dropped me of Bob a bit....so i regrouped and got stuck in again as the gap wasnt too bad, then suddenly out of the blue at the right hander at T3 she slowly and surely spun around on me!!,my first instant thoughts were "omg,i know this all too well, its RDHGP Lenno 911 syndrome"!!!,thankfully all that arrived made it past me,then i scoop myself off the dirt and go flying down to the nice fast dowhill right T4 and....WhhOoOaaAAh!!,around she goes with great ease, unfortunately this time i end up going backwards and what felt like a good speed,my reaction was to floor it and try and spin out of the way somehow?? :/,but i didnt move at all, just sat spinning up a huge cloud of smoke, then a BMW appeared....and the rest is history :(,created a little mess there, very sorry guys :(,i continued down to the hairpin and guess what?.....aye,spun clean around with no warning or hope of correction, the only option left now was hit ESC.
Well done Amir race 1 and good job Bob race2,ofcourse well done everyone there.

Big thanks Stuey & RD,overall this little series has been very good to me and provided some mighty races

Thanks for the series Stuart, like Bob, I think I have learned a lot as we worked our way through the races, and for me this event was one of the most satisfying.

Race 1, Never really got a handle on the gear ratios for the Skyline, but had a drivable car. I started at the back, and finished at the back, but had a very good scrap with Manuel in the Vette. I could see it was a "handful", but you kept it under control and we traded places 2 or 3 times with out any tears.

Race 2 . The Escort felt so good I pushed a bit and qualified 4th. Thanks to Warren for his Silverstone setup, it seemed to fit and gave me a solid car to work with. Had a pretty good start around the outside of turn 1 and slotted into 3rd. After Warren's nice pass on lap 2, ( and Knut ) slipped to 5th, but inherited third again after a couple more laps. Lots of pressure from the Stuart and Carlos tag team, eventually I secumbed to the determined duo and the Opels made it by ( nice driving guys! ). Still, I was able to keep up a decent pace and was happy to hold on for 5th. Congrates to Amir and Bob on their wins and well done podium!

Thanks again RD and Stuart for your efforts, this was my first series and it has been a lot of fun. Not sure when my next event will be, but hope to see you all again soon...
