Doesn't it just use the WMR driver?
It seems (to me) unlikely that M$ Hololens uses the same binary as HP's Reverbs....
This advisory implies headset-specific drivers.

Downloading Mixed Reality Portal from M$ $tore to that Windows 11 Pro laptop
and plugging in G1's USB-3 connector (laptop lacks DisplayPort)
provoked Device Manager to report HP VR1000-2xxx,
... with driver dated 6/21/2006, which Windows insists is best and latest.
Internet search yielded this HP Support page
.. listing drivers only for Windows 7-10.

HP still lists another WMR headset driver
Ok, it seems to think that is a PC and lists a ton of drivers :D

I think their website has just gone a bit wonky....

My G1 seems to be doing it
Is that on Windows 10 or 11? While you were replying to it,
I updated my previous Reply with a Windows 11 experiment; sorry for the confusion..
While subsequently removing Mixed Reality Portal from that W11 notebook,
I discovered that an HP VR support app had also been installed.

FWIW, while working on various friends' PCs, it has been my experience
that HP is among the worst for driver support.

If you have issues with drivers install W11 offline.

When asked to connect:
Shift + F10
Taskmgr
Processes
Network connection flow
End Task
Close the open windows
Continue install offline

Just putting together a 13th Gen Intel build and installed Windows 10. Seems to be running okay, but I'm curious. Before I get too far adding software etc, should I do a fresh clean Windows 11 install instead and wipe the SSD and install 11? Or can I live okay with 10 for a while? Curious what folk here would do in my case?

In VR Flight Sim Guy's discord, @Kam_A321 reports WMR quit working after Win 11 update .. eventually "resolved" by clean Windows 11 reinstallation.

Have finally upgraded my older "non compatible" PC to Win11 following this instruction
using "Upgrade to Windows 11 on unsupported hardware from ISO file".
Worked even smoother than on "supported" PCs, took less than an hour for the whole process, nothing was lost, all peripheral still works, even retained proper NVidia driver, was back to gaming in no time.

Haven't really explored this yet.
Two questions come to mind though: firstly, is there anything better about Win11 that you were specifically seeking (to motivate going through the hassle), and secondly are the updates working?
Better HDR with Auto HDR support, AAC support for BT Audio.
The latest big update (22H2?) gets downloaded and installed fine as it seems. I'll update if the next one fails.

Just a heads up.
This no longer works
Oh someone can now laugh at me now knowing I posted this for W11 users 6 months ago.
Yeah right thought not. ;)

Anyways point is that has changed.
I got told that W11 Pro shows the " I have no internet" ?
Well Build 23H2 doesn't.

So new fix is:
When asked to connect
Shift + F10 and type:
OOBE\BYPASSNRO all in CAPS
Hit enter, PC will reboot and "I have no internet" will be added at bottom right in blue.

So you can still do your OSes offline, how anyone does them online I just can't comprehend these days.

Also this thing "explorer patcher" I have only just discovered is the best tool since Winaero.

Now I just discovered running preview update hung in copying to windows cache
forever just like the Culumative.
Was just about to cancel it looked up and its loaded waiting lol
Not sure why takes so long ?

Well my rFactor2 is running smooth and I notice it drops out from a heavy session much faster.
If you have not tried W11 for say 12 months I would really give it a whirl.
Buy cheapest smallest sata SSD you can find.
Better then screwing with your W10 drive just yet.

I put this message here less chance of getting seen.
Who wants to read a W11 thread right.
Going on sabatical from simming and hitting that bucket list.
Just want to say thank you guys, this forum and other 2 tech forums is the last place someone like me could come and talk without being ostracized because of unfashionable views, thinking outside the box or standing up for what you feel.
Not going to make excuses just please forgive my sometimes obstenate behaviour.

Thank you for all the contributions. You made this a better place and will be missed. Good luck.
