F1 2011 why so slow

i've had the game 2 weeks and tracks and lap times that i always thought i was decent on in previous F1 games are getting beat by 4 or 5 seconds per lap, i've got certain setups from websites and although some have improved my lap times (interlagos for example 1.08.2) but even that ive seen beaten by 3 seconds, is it setup ? or do i need to improve even on a track that i probably prefer and find one of the easiest ?
