Why is Race07 better than Raceroom!

Disclaimer: this may upset many people.

Ive just installed this after many years of playing newer sims. I expected it to look old, have crap ffb, and handling,plus awful AI!

Damn how was I wrong. This imho is better than most new sims out there bar GSC and rf2 and even then its not far behind! How comes features in Race07 cant be put into these new games.!

I'm actually in a state of shock with race07. I just did a back to back with the r8 in Race07 at zandvoort and the same in Raceroom. Race07 makes RR feel arcade and I'm not frickin kiddin' Graphics aside yes but everything else. damn I'm impressed simbin. that's a classic sim.

In the meantime if you want to use it offline then just go to your player file in my docs
Documents\SimBin\RACE 07\UserData\your name
and 'find' AI Additional Fuel Mult="1.00000" // Additional fuel multiplier for AIs because of their driving style
Lower that for AI to use less fuel so they don't need to pit unless it's an endurance race you'll need a bit of trial and error. 0.90000 is what I use.
You will need to put it back to normal I think for online.

or just use mandatory pits if it is not preseted championship

I just reinsalled race 07 and all the add ons over the weekend. I use to play offline a lot. Never raced online. I miss the look to apex ,wish it was in raceroom l'll be watcking here for maybe an upcoming race

I remember having issue with 3 separate devices plugged at the same time .. Wheel, pedal, shifter .. should be able to detect 3 devices but somehow I could only use 2 at the same time .. could please somebody with Race07 istalled and 3 devices check this for me. Thanks

I'm using Race07 almost every week with 3 devices: T300, TH8RS (via USB) and CSR Elite pedals. So yes, it does work.

Bought the Simbin bundle on offer a few weeks ago & like some, never really looked at it due to new sims. Gave it some time recently & was properly impressed with the Race 07/GTR Evo. Plenty of content, great FFB, more than decent graphics with over 100 FPS on 15 car grid running 2560 X 1440 & max visuals.

FFB is very good on a T300 when set to 100% in game . Great game, it still amazes me.

Been installing mods today & I am super impressed in the Touring Car mod, racing the Mondeo etc.
Very happy indeed.

After reading this thread I went back to my STCC championship last night and also ran Radicals at Marrakech. Always impressed how good this still is....and massive content.

GT Legends is also getting my full attention too. Initially didn't like it or more like not gave it the time it deserved. Had another try, got my GT2 dialled in & downloaded a load of content... MK2 Escorts are fantastic as is all the rest of it.

R3E is what caught my attention (I'd never previously even considered getting into racing.) but I have only my work PC at the moment because I'm rebuilding my game PC.
On a whim I bought Race 07. Not only does it run on this box (dual-core 3GHz; onboard graphics) but it's a fabulous game!

Going on 0 experience of racing I compare it to the very good rotary platforms in DCS and ArmA and for sure even though the visuals here are nothing like realistic the physics and dynamics are fabulous. Especially given the game's age. And its price!

I have no way to compare R07 to R3E. But I can say with confidence that R07 is prolly the biggest bang for buck in the game world I've explored.

I haven't played multi yet (Have driven maybe a dozen laps.) but did peek the list. A good number of servers, but only 4 or 5 were even lightly populated. Would be a shame if that began to disappear.

p.s. I read about adjusting power and coast in differential to "steer with right foot" and assumed that was possible only on RaceRoom. But I looked into car setup on R07 and OMG! This game really is complete / fully mature.

It's probably got enough content and mods to last a lifetime, plus is a complete game. That certainly is a change from the modern ones.
However I must admit (I'm biased) that for online I love R3E.
