I'm not part of the project anymore unfortunately but found this statement in a Steam-group 'The toolpacks purchase may reopen again, but currently there's no concrete information that can be supplied'.

Reading the latest comments from the devs on how even the funding for next gen consoles is 'in place' i think you might have to wait til release.

I heard that public funding was now closed due to a major software developer taking over the major stake? Something along those lines anyway.

I think it was more something along the lines of getting money for very low interest rate without anyone taking 'stakes'. Might've been misunderstood.
