F1 2016 tyre choice option Q2 isn't chosen in the race

Career mode 25%, I got into Q2 with my Manor, then I choose the medium tyres, put in 1 timed lap, and quit Q2 on p14. Race starts and I'm on the softs?????

You get tyre choice for start of race if you don't qualify in the top 10.
