The SimFeedback-AC DIY Motion Simulator thread

Hey guys. Thought I’d create a thread for those taking the plunge into this brilliant DIY project..
I will be starting mine soon and I know there are others thinking about it.. so feel free to share your knowledge and experiences so we can all enjoy this platform to its full potential. A huge thanks to the developers who have really knocked this one out of the park!

For all the internals for the actuator contact Amy - skye@ntl-bearing.com
She can supply everything you need. Just remind her you want the ends of the shafts chamfered and make sure she sends the right sized ball screw - we have had a couple of issues reported. She is very helpful though and the cost is pretty good.

Huge thanks to @RowanH for writing a comprehensive user guide which can be accessed here - https://www.rowanhick.com/sfx-100-build-and-running-guide

In addition, @anton_Chez has contributed a list of post numbers for some of the important settings etc..

I will try to keep this page updated with links to source the parts in other parts of the world. Just post whatever links you have and i'll add them here.

Please note: Not all the parts listed below are essential for the project. For the essential parts refer to the original shopping list.

will give that one a try

I edited the slider stl a little bit in blender and now it moved down.
thinking about combining the 2 gcode files.
any sugestion for a program to view gcode after the merge?

Has somebody been able to get this issue on the Item slider in combination with PrusaSlicer resolved? I know Cura will end it, but even with what appear to be the same settings to me, PrusaSlicer is giving me a better fit of the slider inside the profile and nicer finish, so I'm trying to stick with that if possible.

I vaguely recall somebody posting Item sliders with the errors corrected in the past, but I can't find that post anymore.

It's a know problem, see here: https://www.racedepartment.com/thre...y-motion-simulator-thread.159524/post-3124919.
Solutions: use Simplify3D, repair the STL using https://service.netfabb.com/login.php or if I remember correctly _hagenaar has fixed the STL - so you could ask him.

Printing done and I got all the other components, servos also tested.
Parts and servos came from NTL-Bearing in three separate packages yesterday and today. TNT Express, 5-6 days including weekend from China to Finland.
It's assembly time!

Is this the famous chinese quality control?

"Chamfered at the both ends".
Yeah right!

One of the servo power cables was missing connectors...
At least those cables are shielded!

Fixed!

I just tried to fix it with Insert Coin's suggestion using netfabb. The result looks promising, no more errors in Prusaslicer and the sliced slider looks good. Will begin printing them tonight. With my settings it takes 35h, will report back on Sunday.

OK please let me know, because I tried printing the file with Cura now since some people suggested that this wouldn't produce this error. I didn't see any strange layers showing or whatever so I was really hopefull, but still the result is the same as you can see in the picture.

Put the slider stl through netfabb and indeed no more errors show up in PrusaSlider, nor do I see any strange layers or whatever.

Please let me know if it works for you now, then I can finally start printing this one!

Evening all. First post here as it's been quite the thread to read through in its entirety. I'm an Englishman living in the US and early this year I was gifted two old Virtual GT simulators. I've never looked into SIM Racing before so it's been a steep learning curve from swapping out the old PS2 systems to running audio from an Xbox One for the inbuilt surround sound and vibration. I'm not too well versed in the computer side but after having read all of this I'm hoping I can fumble my way through it without asking too much. Another 3D printing virgin here and never heard of an Arduino until this thread so may the odds be ever in my favour.
Just one question, I noticed posts have slowed down dramatically on this thread, is there still a lot of activity in the discord?

That's much quicker than I experienced when I placed my order (2 years ago). Good job Kinetik!

My 3D printing knowledge is near to none. I read some where that printing methods have changed from the original sfx-100 3d instructions (newer infill patterns). Are there some newer instructions for ender (or cura?) how to print the needed 3D parts?

Kia ora from New Zealand,

I have started the shopping process by ordering parts and I have got almost every part on the way.
Extrusions from Kinetik. Motor and parts from NTL bearings in China and almost everything else (electronics) from Amazon USA.

The one thing that I get stuck with are the fasteners. I can find them through https://www.fasttrade.co.nz/ but the total cost for the "shopping list" items is approximately NZ$200. Also they don't stock the DIN 6912 bolts.
I looked at the German websites and found all of them for about €30. There must be a better way.

If there is anybody in AU/NZ that has a recommended supplier in the region for these fasteners?

Donating won't get you the expert mode until your sponsor "verifies" your build. So you probably should have held off on that until approved.
So how is that done? He has to be in discord to verify for someone (saxxon?) Or are there some other methods? I'll try to make this easy for the sponsor because he didn't know how it works. What if he doesn't use discord? Then he cannot sponsor?

Hi Everyone, can anyone out there help me get sponsored as well? I built the SFX-100 last year. Thanks in advance! Happy to provide anything required to get verified.
