The SimFeedback-AC DIY Motion Simulator thread

Hey guys. Thought I’d create a thread for those taking the plunge into this brilliant DIY project..
I will be starting mine soon and I know there are others thinking about it.. so feel free to share your knowledge and experiences so we can all enjoy this platform to its full potential. A huge thanks to the developers who have really knocked this one out of the park!

For all the internals for the actuator contact Amy - skye@ntl-bearing.com
She can supply everything you need. Just remind her you want the ends of the shafts chamfered and make sure she sends the right sized ball screw - we have had a couple of issues reported. She is very helpful though and the cost is pretty good.

Huge thanks to @RowanH for writing a comprehensive user guide which can be accessed here - https://www.rowanhick.com/sfx-100-build-and-running-guide

In addition, @anton_Chez has contributed a list of post numbers for some of the important settings etc..

I will try to keep this page updated with links to source the parts in other parts of the world. Just post whatever links you have and i'll add them here.

Please note: Not all the parts listed below are essential for the project. For the essential parts refer to the original shopping list.

Does anybody remember a post for a 3d printed Oring instead of buying one? im sure someone posted in on here, but i cant for the life of me find it. i just brought a roll of TPU to print nick moxleys foot holder design, so i thought that might be another use for i, thanks in advance if anyone has any ideas
That was me... But my build is progressing at a snails pace atm...

I'll design the O-ring today and link the STL file.

That’s the higher end but wil come with a price premium, but remember you pay for what you get So the cheap ones from AliExpress......nameless
I should at least go
For the Schaffer 2070 and better the 2090
And rated to 16 ampere

The 2090 is cheaper then the 2070 her in norway so shuld then be checked out

Did have A run with the sfx 100 yesterday. Uped RPM to 3000 and did run assetto corsa and dirt rally 2.0 have to say this is so awsome, nurdburgring is epic in the sfx 100.

Dident have any problems with EMI yesterday. Moved the servo controllers away from my rig and grounded rig/pedals and osw to the osw box and that seems to solve it for me.

Run FN 2090 before servos, powered usb hub, and Ferittes on usbs.

But i still have squiking in some of my actuators so i Will thy the wd40 ptfe lube insted of the ptfe i have used now

Update ... I started this build in Dec 2018 - right after someone proved that it could work on 110V in the US. I built the system at a somewhat leisurely pace (approx 6 weeks). No assembly problems. No 3d printing problems. I did have problems with the system dropping out due to the interference of the arduino wiring. I rearranged the wiring and the problem went away. I really had a great time building the system. I wasn't able to use the system very much after I built it due to traveling and other life activities (I'm retired - you would think I would be able to drive a sim a few hours a day - at least). Anyway, I have been starting to use the system now and it has been very reliable and predictable. 9 months later and I have ZERO buyer's remorse. This was money well spent.

Has anybody had issues with the 110 to 220 transformer tripping a 20 amp circuit from a cold start? This only happens when the transformer has not been used, and only when I click start in Sim feedback and attempt to raise the platform. after the breaker trips, and I reset it, no problems whatsoever until the next time.
