Studio 397 may have been aquired by Motorsport Games

There have been a few reports of the acquisition however the articles have since been removed. Here is a cached version of the EuroGamer article. There have been no official confirmations as of yet.

Motorsport Games currently publishes the Nascar Heat series, recently acquired Black Delta/Kart Kraft and are currently working on a BTCC licensed title.

The thought of them being involved in a BTCC title is quite intriguing, it would certainly mean it leaning more towards the sim side.

Better funding for S397 would be nice. They have a relationship from the Le Mans race as well. They would fit together.

I am just very skeptical to Motorsport Games and simulations seeing how the NASCAR-games are basically the same game again and again, and is rather... Meh to drive.

Excuse me? This could be terrible news, or maybe great news...

As far as I know, these guys of Motorsport Games have made rather arcade or simcade racing games, so if they
buy into Studio 397 to make rFactor more popular converting it into a simcade, I hope this is just fake news.

But, if they wanted investing to keep the Sim as it is but to help it grow graphically and technically as a pure
simulator as it is, then this would be fantastic news.

Imagine rFactor 3 with the graphics of ACC... wow! Finger crossed.

Agreed. Though in an interview with GTPlanet Stephen Hood of Motorsport Games said it will not be a hardcore sim but also won't be an arcade title either and will fall somewhere in between.

Jesus! It was true... I'm speechless...

After coming around... I must say that this is shocking news. As I said earlier, we could have one day rFactor 3
with ACC visuals and still the great physics and FFB we have now in rFactor 2.

Also some other Sims based on the rFactor 2 physics like the already announced BTCC 'game'.

Let's hope for the best...

I am still skeptical. Also amazed to see that S397 have been doing some work on the NASCAR games.
Let's just hope Motorsport Games let's Marcel & Co do what they like, just with more people and funding!

Huge news! Motorsport Games also ran events like The virtual Le Mans. It'll definitely be interesting to see if the BTCC game is just an rFactor 2 type mod

Their Facebook-page kinda seems like it's run by one of the former ISI guys, and have been used mainly as a throwback-page it seems like (and some indie-games not connected to ISI).

As long as they continue to use the rF2 core engine and gfx engine, I'm happy. If they decide to go the ACC route with the Unreal engine, then I'm done.

After reading the full announcement, i see it as an amazing news. Not only from rF2 perspective but also from the other upcoming games' point of view, especially speaking of the new NASCAR title.
