After the postponed Le Mans race the series headed to Japan and the mighty Suzuka for the home GP of the FlatOut Club.
Rain, rain and rain was one of the big question marks going in to the event. It was clear all the time that it would rain but not how much. Rami Kaukola (RPM) set the fastest time in qualifying on the damped track and took the pole ahead of Thor Qualman in the DHR GP Corvette.
At the start of the race the weather seemed stable with a damped track and slicks were to prefer over the wet tyres. Qualman took the lead early on. He was followed by Kaukola and teammate Mikko Korkiakoski for quite a while before pulling away from the duo. The weather changed not only once or twice but thrice during race which made the pistops a nightmare for the drivers.
After the pitstops Kaukolas pace dropped off a bit and in the end he finished 5th. Instead his teammate Peter Duivelaar would take on the challenge of closing the gap to Qualman. This was an impossible task though as Qualman secured DHR GP's second win of the year. Duivelaar croeed the line 2nd followed by Korkiakoski in 3rd.
Mike Simian for FlatOut Racing came home in a solid 4th to celebrate a good race at their hom track. DMSv had a less successfull race this time as Tony Gunnarsson finished in 7th between the two DMSv2 drivers Peter Melin and Peter Kull. The three drivers had their own little team battle throughout the race.
Ben Tusting finished 9th and rounding up top 10 did Mike Wrightson in the DHR Fanatec Porsche. Despite the crazy weather only three drivers failed to make it to the finish in one of STC's toughest races to date.
DMSv is still on top of the standings but it is now very tight as RPM is only 4 points behind them. DMSv2 dropped to third. DHR GP is now back in the championship hunt after a couple of less successfull races from their perspective and is up to 4th, only two points behind the DMSv2 team. Newcomers Project D rounds up top 5.
