I would like to purchase everything I need so I am not missing anything, but I am so confused at this point due to all of the expansions and releases.

Minus the Nascar game what all do I need to purchase so that I am not missing anything?

Below is a list of everything I have found so far and how I understand it.

GT Legends

GTR (Is this even needed or does GTR2 cover everything?)
GTR2

Race (Is this needed?)
Race On (Has Race 07 + STCC The Game)
GTR Evolution
STCC The Game 2
WTCC 2010 Expansion
GT Power Expansion

Am I missing anything? Anything else I should look into. I have a G25 racing setup and I am looking forward to jumping head first into all of this as I have already played GTR2 and Race 07 previously, but all the expansions/add-ons are just confusing me.

Is there a specific order I need to install all of these in?

Also, are there any good add ons for the Lotus Exige (S2) for any of these. I own one in real life and would love to be able to try it in game as well. Seems most of my other cars are already in one of the above so I should be good there. :)

Thanks you in advance for all of the help.

Hi Zip :welcome:

I would like to purchase everything I need so I am not missing anything
First of all ask yourself what you really need. Do you want to race offline/online? Some of the titles you mention are pretty obsolete and there is only a little chance you run into online players.

GTR is very old and as far as I know its dead online. Same for the first WTCC game "RACE" that you don't really need anymore as the content is brought to its successor RACE 07 (beats me why its still available on Steam for an insane 25 euro)

GT Legends -> Has a strong following of oldies lovers on the interweb and also here on RD.

GTR -> Old & dead, only buy it to complete the full collection of SimBin games.

GTR 2 -> Old but still good, almost no bugs but original content only appeals to GT car lovers. Add-on content on the web and here on RD.

RACE - The WTCC Game -> Do not buy! Obsolete and all content available already in the games below.

The following titles are available on Steam and they can merge into each other. If you buy the base game RACE 07 you can save yourself some money by buying the other titles as expansions only. Don't buy the bundles as you will have to pay for the RACE 07 content again:

RACE 07 http://store.steampowered.com/app/8600/
Lots of good content for a very little price. WTCC, Caterhams, Various openwheelers, MINI, Radicals, etc. Tons of tracks

GTR Evolution http://store.steampowered.com/app/8660/
Fictional GT series modeled as GT1, GT2 and GT3 cars. Plus the coolest track content there is (personal opinion) with various Nürburgring tracks such as the Nordschleife

STCC - The Game http://store.steampowered.com/app/8690/
Simulates the Swedish Touring Car Championship 2008 with the original tracks

RACE On http://store.steampowered.com/app/8780/
WTCC 2008, US Muscle Cars and International Formula Masters. More or less the same tracks as in RACE 07 (slightly updated here and there) plus some US tracks like Laguna Seca etc.

STCC - The Game 2 http://store.steampowered.com/app/44620/
Simulates the Swedish and Scandinavian Touring Car Championship but now the 2010 season with a few new cars and one new track compared to STCC1

GT Power Pack http://store.steampowered.com/app/44650/
A must have pack for GT lovers that sells for very little money. Includes the brutal BMW M3 GT2 (SimBin's best car to date), Zonda F and Matech GT1. Highly underrated expansion pack!

WTCC 2010 Pack http://store.steampowered.com/app/44670/
Also known as the Recycle Evolution or Pay On expansion. Same content as been used many times before. Ads three new tracks though.

You can install all expansion packs in random order as they will all be filed under "RACE 07".

Add-on content is available on the web and also here on RD

Posting all those Steam links makes me realize again how confusing the purchase of this series must be for new players. Will put it up as a sticky as well as its all utterly stupid how its scattered on Steam.

Good question :thumb:

Thanks for that information Bram, I have been wondering which other expansions to go for on top of my Race07 + GTR Evolution bundle. Looks to me like the next logical one is the very cheap (£3) GT Power Pack.

This is what I would do:
1. Race On Bundle (Brings race On + Race07 + STCC1)
2. GTR Evo (just the expansion)
3. STCC2 (great expansion)
4. GT power (great expansion)
5. Free expansion Formula Race Room as mentioned by Ramon
6. Free expansion - Crowne Plaza raceway http://store.steampowered.com/app/8670/?snr=1_4_4__13 (not mentioned by others

7. WTCC2010 (pretty expensive as it just adds 3 tracks at €10..)
8. Retro pack, should be released soon, I think it will be great at €5

$82.95 later and I have everything now through steam other than GTR2 and GT Legends. Thanks for confirming everything for me.

Are there any good Lotus Exige (S2) packs for any of these games? I would really love to be able to try this car in game.

Now that you have lots of addons be careful with mods. They can mess your game.

Very few will do that. Mostly the problem is that some mods won't work with each other (too few Model ID's..) but that is not too common and usually won't affect off-line racing. In any case, install only couple of mods at once. That decreases the chances of conflict and cuts down on loading times.

The modding is a whole new topic all together so i suggest you get some info first. Here's a starter: http://www.racedepartment.com/race-mods/50936-how-add-downloaded-content-race-series.html

^^ Mods can be slightly more of an issue if you have the new expansions (STCC 2, GT Power, etc). Many were made during the long period between Race On and Formula RR, when we were sure of the Model IDs available. The expansions now use some of those IDs so there are a few conflicts here and there.

As far as I know, none of that messes up the game entirely though. If there's an issue, just move all the mods out of your game folder and put them back one by one until you find the cause. Then ask the modder for an update.
