RD Rally Championship Season 8 - General Discussion

Now and then I feel that DR gets a bit too much crap for the tarmac handling. It's not perfect by any means but it's really not that bad.

In my opinion it's the poor FFB on tarmac that makes it feel much worse than it really is. I use the "racked FFB" mod found here on RD with my T500RS.

With the FFB set up properly and a good car setup it does feel quite good.

Recommend or share any good t500 settings pls

Well, doing the little "pre-league" run on Racenet has confirmed a few things. Namely that as with every single rally game I've ever played (going back to RAC rally back in 1994!): I'm ok on tarmac, fast on ice/snow, and crap on gravel.......which isn't a good sign given the rally venues available
Though I'm currently top of the 2WD- group I think, so its not all bad:)

I got a small preview for the Finland stage. Only 2 hours trying to get a good footage so show you all. I'll update it very soon to RD's channel and then I have to edit my team preview for Finland :p (yes, I've done for both cases)

And I'll tackle the stages today with the SEAT :)

I am still thinking about joining in the fun. But my work schedule of 7days work, 2days off is a royal pain in the *** for stuff like this. I dont wanna let my teammate down.
I am also not sure what car to pick. I love the lancia 037, but i am affraid it will be to difficult in the long parts without service combined with the fact that i love this game with everything off. No hud, no auto or sequential, no auto clutch, no nothing. I used to drive this game always on sequential. Maybe i should take Eckhart up for his offer and join in with the delta integrale? Or should i go mad and take the car the least or not chosen as mine, like the Sierra or something :)

One thing I´m doubting: when you´re checking the times of our League on RaceNet, it´s not possible to see separate stage times. You´re able to see overall times only, even clicking on Stage 1, stage 2 or final.....always show the total time, not stage by stage.
Is there any other way to see it that I don´t know, or directly it´s not possible?

I'm hoping the admin wizards here have something lined up for that as I was thinking the same. Would be nice to follow your progress per catagory as well.

2WD- looks like it could be fun, with close times in the warm up so far. I had two spins and I've not worked on an Escort setup for gravel or snow yet so my gearing was up the wall and it was enough to cost me so any error will cost you!

Yup, 2WD- looks like a good class. Hopefully fine tuning setups won't spread it out too much, certainly had too much diff lock in the snow!
Stage by stage times would be good, I just have a rough idea of how far I was behind P1 on each stage, sometimes it was as good as 15 seconds! :D Then there was the gravel stage with a spin and my gravel skills :O_o:

I wonder if that 'crest' program could be used to overlay fastest times, might make a good comparison 'replay'. no idea how it all works though so could be talking rubbish:p

Of course we have lined up something so we get individual stage times in the rally results :)

Uhm, fine-tuning what? ^^, Default setup all the way!
Remember that the "behind P1" isn't the fastest on the stage, but the person who is leading at that point. Also, if another driver is still running, that driver might not show up as "P1" on the "behind P1" screen. I guess this is because... Codemasters!
Crest-thingy only works on the daily, weekly and monthly. Again, I guess due to Codemasters!

2WD- suddenly grew to quite a big class. I'm somewhat surprised that it is this much more popular than 2WD+!

Then I understand it´s not posible to see stage times...only overall standings after one or another stage:(:(
Codemasters should catch up on this. Stage times is an essential information in a rally!!!!

I think that could be down to a few things...
Partly, some seeing the size of the 4wd+ class and seeing they have a slim chance of a win so go for something else. Also 2WD- is made up of mainly 'affordable classics' that people may have owned road going versions of or have seen in rallies at club level etc.
Personally for me, I did think of 4wd+, but at the time I had only just bought the sim so couldn't get access to them. Did try the Escort cosworth, but just didn't like how it felt. Considered 2WD+ with the sierra (can you tell I like fords?:p) but the sierra is a race car not a rally car IMO. So went for a car I have seen out in rallies a lot in the UK, and that matches the era of my car (Ford Capri) so went for the mk2 Escort, that and RWD in some of these rallies needs some deft car control compared to the 'accelerate out of any danger' 4WD ethos.
So slow but challenging.............a bit like myself :roflmao::roflmao:

From Codemasters side, that is the case, yes. And it is utterly frustrating.
The most frustrating thing was that I asked for such things early in the early access period, and was told that certain things would come. They never did -.-

Ye, I can understand that the 4WD+ is getting too big for many people - but I would've expected 2WD+ to be popular, as the cars are very fast in the right hands :)
Not that I complain ;P
Ford... Boring street-cars, classic rally cars :)
