Rally - Monte Carlo 99- Mon 13th & Tues 14th September 2010

Guys,

Am back home for a few minutes to get some stuff and am headed back to the hospital again. I had a major seizure early yesterday and even though it's cleared they want to keep me in and observe me for the next few weeks. It came out of nowhere as the meds all seemed to be doing their jo but has left me feeling a bit odd. I am not sure how long I shall be away but they are talking at least 6 weeks if not 8.
Hope you all have fun.

Cheers

Had no idea it was that serious... Hope things get better soon, take care

official cheering thread: I won a stage!!! I won a stage!!! I won a stage!!! (all the Aussies and assorted Oceanians, keep your hands off off stage 4, it's mine for the taking :)

really enjoyed this night's gaming more than any previous RBR event, pity we were only five, the mod is just terrific, reminded me of the road conditions we had round here for weeks this winter :)

stage1: first surprise, finished 2nd 14 secs down to Tor, who went on to win the European group by lightyears.
stage2: flipped it in the latter parts of the stage and cruised slowly home from there with incessant water temp warnings
stage3: did really well at Bisanne, did a little cut two turns from finish because of pulling the virtual handbrake for too long (grrrrrrr) and dunno why???, the motor was gone ??? gutted
stage4: beat Rob by all of 4 secs to take the win :) :) :)
stage5: This time round beaten by Tor by a margin of - you guessed it - four seconds
stage6: another 2nd place, but this time Tor really beat the ... out of us, taking 23 secs off me
stage7: second split showed I was in the lead, this so disturbed me I flipped the car (nooob !!!), ended 3rd
stage8: another 2nd between Tor and Rob, really had a great fight with Rob for most of the night, too bad I busted stage3, could have been really really close.

Thx sooo much for setting this up, Warren, suited my overly cautious style perfectly, and don't anyone dare beat me at stage 4 :)

Just over one hour to go for me, have just try this MC mod for the 1st time and i love it :). Been practicing on ss.1 only and have manage 3.04... so far, i,m sure i can shave 5 sec off that time but it will be diferent on the actual run without the safety of restart lol.

3.04? Damn, I'd have to shave 5 seconds off just to come close to that :D

See you in an hour!

EDIT: tried it now, 3:14 dead, and it was a nice run for me

SS2, 10km without a scratch, and 1km before the end... CFH :(

SS3, this is ridiculous! One small off, and touch with a tree, and my car is seriously damaged? What if the damage were realistic, somebody sneezes on it, and it's gone? Video coming after the rally. :|

SS4, again, clipped a tree with my door, and the engine dies? WTF.
And I was 50 seconds in front of Dariusz at the second split
And 20 seconds faster than Eckhart's stage win

I've had enough. The engine just died on me in a straight line, 100m before the finish line, didn't have any major damage.

EDIT: hahah, tried one more stage after all. Bisanne, awful. Went through the tough bit, and then got off road. Tried to press escape, to call for help, and somehow I got to the Windows key, and had to kill the game.
Not my day.

Sorry to hear of your medical problems John, take care and best wishes for a good recovery.

Looks like we Aussies are in for a really slippery time of it tonight, tippy toe driving needed, but it is damned hard to control that right foot hey.

Note to self, must crash on SS04, must crash out on SS04.

Just finished...

SS5: disaster
ss6: disaster
SS7: BIG disaster
ss8: disaster

LOL, second run not very good indeed, but fun i had loads.. :) :)
Sry to hear you had such a bad run Senad...:(
Thx for setting it up and GL to the rest...you WILL need it....lol

Geez. And here I was hoping for the Proto cars with the MonteCarlo mod...

From the sounds of it, we'll need all the help we can get... I've yet to even spot my Escort, let alone drive it... Maybe Ford is trying to start it... still?

Just be careful with the right foot, and you'll be fighting for a win :D

Going sideways was great, but there wasn't much room, except on Joux Plane. Didn't like the sound the tires made, though.

The best thing for me was tip-toeing around hairpins with 20km/h or so, straightening the car, and then stomping on the throttle. The acceleration... Awesome.

Best of luck OC runners :good:

Ah, yes, happy birthday Warren :cake:
Hadn't noticed until now, sorry.

You probably tried this anyway Senad, but just in case.

I've had a couple of incidents previously where I have stalled the engine, and couldn't restart it. However, by using the "Call for help", the little push from the crowd seeemed to restart the engine for me, and I was able to continue on and finish.
