~Lap by Lap~
~GRID~
~Race Report~
Lap 1: After a disastrous qualifying, Matthew Gutteridge starts from 15th on the grid, supposedly with next to no fuel in the car, in an attempt to jump the field, and it certainly seems to be working, making his way up to eighth under-braking for turn into turn one, narrowly avoiding team-mate David Buxton, who moves up a position also. Sebastien Levret leads at the end of lap one.
~Race Standings after Lap 1/62~
1)Sebastien Levret
2)Honk 0.4
3)Niels Pedersen 0.5
4)Ben Tusting 0.8
5)Dave Stephenson 1.1
6)David Buxton 1.5
Lap 6: Gutteridge is still the fastest man in the field by some way, moving up to fourth. Stephenson also moves up, past Tusting and into fifth.
Lap 12: Gutteridge was in fact very light and he pits now. Bduddy, a rival of Gutteridge, now begins his charge to the front of the field, jumping into sixth, ahead of a heavily fuelled Gutteridge
~Race Standings after Lap 12/62~
1)Sebastien Levret
2)Honk 1.3
3)Niels Pedersen 1.6
4)Dave Stephenson 1.8
5)David Buxton 2.4
6)Bduddy 2.7
Lap 19: Honk, Levret and Bduddy pit. Gutteridge does seem to be generally on the pace, but now seems to be struggling with the Jordan of Van Waes and the Minardi of Rosset, and is losing time.
Lap 24: Stephenson and Pedersen pit, but a sticking Wheel means that Niels is stationary for a long period of time, and there is a lot of visable green smoke. Will Niels engine survive?
~Race Standings after Lap 24/62~
1)David Buxton
2)Matthew Gutteridge 15.7
3)Bduddy 16.3
4)Honk 16.8
5)Resi Respati 17.4
6)Viljar Parts 17.7
Lap 31: Buxton pits. Dave Stephenson cuts the S bend and is given a stop-go penalty. But, before he can serve it, he bins the car into the wall at Turn 3, with a suspected steering wheel failure. The Jaguar team will be disappointed.
Lap 44: Gutteridge and bduddy enter the pits, emerging in fifth, a podium definitely on the cards for both of them, Tom Wilkanshaw is on the edge of his seat, willing the car on.
~Race Standings after Lap 44/62~
1)Sebastien Levret
2)Resi Respati 4.5
3)Honk 5.6
4)Viljar Parts 6.9
5)Matthew Gutteridge 7.6
6)Bduddy 7.8
Lap 49: Honk, Respati and Levret pit, leaving Viljar Parts Jordan in the lead! This is really an amazing topsy-turvy lady.
Lap 53: Parts pits, with Gutteridge inheriting the lead, bduddy in second, and Viljar with an incredible third place for Jordan! Could there yet be a sting in the tail?
~Race Standings after Lap 53/62~
1)Matthew Gutteridge
2)Bduddy 2.4
3)Viljar Parts 3.9
4)David Buxton 5.6
5)Sebastien Levret 7.7
6)Honk 10.9
Lap 59: No Way! Bduddy’s second rate Arrows car is hauling in Gutteridge’s McLaren! Could the Arrows really win? Tom Wilkenshaw has given up watching the timing screens apparently because “ I might fall off of my stool.”
Lap 62: Brilliant! Bduddy’s Arrows has snatched it from the jaws of Gutteridge in the final push! After driving an anonymous race, Peter Duivilaar jumps into sixth, past Honk.
