OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE + Pre-Season Analysis, part 1
2 Teams announced, 1 car unveiled, 1 seat up for grabs?
The RDFIA today will be happy to announce that 2 teams have been signed up to Season 20 of the Forum Racing championship. Defending champs Online Racing are committed to the season, while Jordan Grand Prix have gone one better, officially unveiling the car and their two drivers this week.
With that, lets take a quick analysis of these two teams:
Jordan
The Jordan 2002-FR was unveiled this week, along with two high profile signings to follow. Former moderator Rami Saidy steps back into a car this season, eager to push the boundaries and take a maiden victory, after numerous podiums in his debut season. With him is a driver who caused arguably the biggest talking point last season in OldWolf. Coming in halfway through the season, he was able to take the Vodafone racer to victory lane and a full season could well see him take the title.
The general consensus is that this is a strong team, there is no reason why they cannot take both titles. Watch for strong consistent results from OldWolf, while the expert opinion is that on his day, Saidy can and probably will win.
Online Racing
The defending constructors champions are back, but there is currently some doubt as to exactly who they are. Ben Utzer is back, looking for a strong, complete season. His previous season was marred by injury, but now rejuvenated he will no doubt be a force to contend with. The second seat was of course Omer Said's last season, and while it is generally believed that OR's hero in the latter half of the season will stay with the team, the lack of confirmation on the matter has seen doubt in the seat. Some rumours have also included current free-agent and defending drivers champion Manolis Sigolakis to the seat, but these have yet proved unfounded.
Arguably, not matter who will parter Utzer this season, Online Racing will be a force to be reckoned with, and including the confidence from last season's win, this team could well be toasting to 2-in-a-row.
