Slightly Mad Studios have partnered up with US publisher Gamevil to announce a mobile version of the popular Project CARS franchise is incoming...

With both Project CARS and Project CARS 2 turning out to be commercial successes for Slightly Mad Studios, the British developers have made the call to turn their hand to mobile gaming, teaming up with Gamevil to announce Project CARS GO is in development.

Speaking of the new partnership, SMS CEO Ian Bell had the following to say:

"Alongside Gamevil, Project CARS GO will put players in the driver’s seat to experience the adrenaline pumping racing game in a whole new way,

“The racing genre has a large, dedicated fan base, who are going to be stomping the gas pedal and burning rubber very soon.”

Few details of the new chapter in the Project CARS franchise have yet to be revealed, however of interesting note is the fact that this new title will be the first foray into the world of racing for Gamevil, a publisher well versed in the world of mobile gaming with the likes of Monster Warlord, MLB Perfect Inning Live and Punch Hero already to its credit.

More news will follow when it becomes available...

Project CARS GO is expected to release on mobile devices sometime during 2018.

I have not heard from them neither. If the list of their games on their homepage is complete, then they do not seem to have any experience with racing games: https://www.gamevil.com/game
Having worked for a global app development house for a couple of years I can tell you that not having experience in that specific field isn't necessarily a bad thing. Providing they get the right people in to look after the racing/driving elements then the experience from other genres could produce some neat solutions.

snidey muppets out from under their rocks I see. Give it a break lads, it's pathetic.

Personally I'd prefer it if SMS concentrate on getting the main games as good as they can possibly be, although if extra revenue is mainly plowed back into the main games then I'll be happier with the prospect. The games are damn good it's just getting that overall quality level up and iron out the problems.

funny that Project Cars 2 is considered a commercial success. On the PC side, it only has approx 20% of the sales of the first game (per Steamspy). Project cars (PC1) sold approx 1,000,000 copes and Project Cars 2 peaked at 200,000 copies. .

Again you compare sales of a game over 30 months with another on sale for only 6 months. PCARS sold less than 250,000 copies on steam in its first 6 months, so PCARS2 is not far behind. After 2 years AC had sold 250,000 copies and after 4 years it had sold 600,000 copies (steam only) - you can't ignore how long a title has been on sale.

Oh boy............maybe it'll be like Real Racing 3? But I just don't see a full blown sim happening on mobile. Unless they implement controllers and stuff or if you're insane, wheels on a damn phone. I dunno man, this seems like a dumb idea. There's a reason why racing games on mobile are kinda bad.

well they are not the one doing the conversion, so it won't distract them too much anyhow

i for one cant wait for this. The mobile gpus and cpus are a lot more capable that what people think. Look at Pubg on mobile. it looks almost as good as the pc version. and its a full fledged game. real racing also looks great. No one should be expecting to have a full sim on a phone. at least not yet. but it can still look and feel great. Especially for people who are always on the move and dont have time to be strapped to a computer/pc all day
