F1 2010 Pit limiter

When you switch on the pit limiter?
Between the last and second last line for the pitst?
How can you tell if the pit limiter is active?

You see the hand hit the button on the steering wheel and the car wont go above 99kph (maybe will peak at 100 for a split second)

(obviously you need to have Pit Limiter assist set to 'manual' for this to work, otherwise the hand will automatically hit the limiter.)

I use manual pit limiter. So, when I enter pit lane (It's still about 30-100 meters to the line) the limiter turns automatically on and car runs at 120 kmph to the line. I don't need this, but what I can do to avoid this?

In manual mode, I think you need to slow to below 99kph and then bring it back up to the limit.

This is an issue. Sometimes I slow down way too early, I have "ghost cars" cutting the queue into pits. Too late, I get a penalty. So exactly where should I slow down? Any thoughts?
