PC Gaming Expensive Hobby?

I am getting married this year so I have promised to be a good boy for the next few months and cut back on my usual frivolous spending :(. This got me thinking though about how much I spend on gaming in general and how much value I get from the games I purchase, so I decided to to try and work it out.

Thankfully driving sims come out of the results quite well other games not so much. I have uploaded my spreadsheet in excel if you fancy a look it catalogues all the games I have bought since I started PC gaming 18 months ago that I could find reference to (there may be one or two others) also the gaming time for Game Stock Car and rfactor2 are low estimates.

Here are some of the stats from driving simulators. Hope someone finds it interesting:whistling:

DRIVING SIMULATION COST PER HOUR
PERIPHERALS COST
WHEEL £ 100.00
PEDALS £ 140.00
INVERSION KIT £ 61.00
DSD TILTON PADS £ 28.00
SHIFTER Conversion £ 40.00
STAND £ 90.00
LOGITECH G27 GEARBOX £ 40.00
THRUSTMASTER TH8RS £ 130.00
DSD BOX £ 66.00
TOTAL £ 695.00
SIMULATIONS £ 234.40
SIMULATION TOTAL £ 929.40
TIME PLAYED HOURS 461.00
COST PER HOUR £ 2.02 I dont think this is too bad for the cost of a hobby! And the bonus is this goes down the more you play!

Now this next bit is not good thanks to steam sales etc.
TOTAL 90 Games purchased
PLAYED 67 or 74%
NOT PLAYED 23 or 26%
HOUR OR LESS 40 or 44%

This also does not include PC & SSD and various other bits and bobs, but I needed those anyway so they have not been taken into account.

It is pretty frightening really. I feel a bit ashamed I dropped that much on games I probably will not play. It was eye opening compiling that. But in my defence coming from console gaming that is not a lot of money if you paying full retail price for a game.
