Number of opponents "drawn" ahead?

So, I usually run the game offline, with 9 AI + myself, due to computer/gpu constraints.. I want to run some online races but they list like 20+ opponents.. Is there a setting where AC will only draw the closest 9 or 10 or something or is that just with other sims? Thanks..
