New RACE Series Club Event Format Explained

From today we will be running a new format event format in the RACE Series Racing Club. The new format takes in all the commercial expansions to the RACE series as well as the original game across all 7 days of the week, bringing for the first time 4 events per day.

The events are aligned to provide an evening start time in each of the following areas of the world:

• Australasia / Asia
• Europe
• East Coast US and South America
• West Coast US and South America

Each event will be run in each of the time-zones listed, with a new event for each day.

The formal sign-up procedure has been replaced with an informal procedure in which Licensed Members post their intention to race in the event thread along with the time zone of the start times they expect to attend.

Car classes/expansions will be set for a number of weeks at a time so people can know ahead in plenty of time before an event what class to expect. It is hoped this will reduce the burden on people to prepare as the stability in car selection over a period of weeks requires people only need quick familiarisation with the track of the day in order to be ready to have fun on track.

The next weeks will see the following daily layout of classes/expansions:

• Monday:
  • RACE On events with touring cars

• Tuesday:
  • GTR Evolution events with GT cars

• Wednesday:
  • Mod events with SRP mods

• Thursday:
  • STCC 2 events with touring cars

• Friday:
  • RACE 07 events with Mini Cooper Challenge

• Saturday:
  • RACE 07 / GTR Evolution / RACE On with open wheelers / Radicals

• Sunday:
  • RACE 07 events with touring cars

As the new expansions are released they will be added in to the framework above.

We hope the new event layout will make things more flexible for members and provide more racing opportunities for all. News will be released of any changes to the schedule. The current schedule of days will always be available here.

I think having a clear format using default content will make it far easier for racers to get online and race instead of searching for add-ons.

Doesn't that mean there are potentially 100 post to trawl through (25 slots over the 4 timezones) to determine if there's room available on a server you wish to race on, not counting sign outs.

Would it then come down to a first come first served basis if one of the events are over subscribed?

Sounds like an interesting idea but I guess there will be a few teething problems for a while. I find it a bit disappointing though when it comes to the selection of cars being used. 3 (4 if you include SRPs work?) Touring Car events each week until the next change? Why not add some popular mods in there like the Porsches or V8 Supercars?
