Logitech G27 Force Feedback FFB Assetto Corsa - A.S way

WheelCheck.. FCM tool Lut Converter.. FFBClip App .. tried them all . . and wasted alot of time testing pretty much every guide out there.. till i was like.. ok . time to think.. and not replicate things like a parot.. and VIO LA.. never been so good before. Let me know how it works out for ya. Enjoy !

G27 Owners .. simplicity is DEVINE!

The confusion and frustration of the G27 not being a good wheel and the pain to set it up correctly.. its your christmas today.. try.. and thank me later.
Without going into once again confusing technical details.. straight forward.

1)
120% in oder to eliminated the "deadzone behaviour" or interfacing bug of the G27 completly - just by doing that

40% - 55% dampening, because otherwise your wheel will turn loose if car isn´t rolling. Standing rubbers still provide resistance on the steering wheel. ( i have to in 70% as the not roll resistance should be higher than the slow roll one)

2)

Under C:\Users\UserName\Documents\Assetto Corsa\cfg in the controls.ini file edit like this:

[STEER]
JOY=0
AXLE=0
SCALE=1
LOCK=855
FF_GAIN=1
FILTER_FF=0.6
STEER_GAMMA=1
STEER_FILTER=0

There you go, you wanted a linear G27.. there you have it now.

After that, rename the Linear.txt file to " Linear.lut" (lima, utha, tango) and save it.

4)

Open the ff_post_process.ini file and change it to:

[HEADER]
VERSION=1
TYPE=LUT
ENABLED=1

[GAMMA]
VALUE=1

[LUT]
CURVE=Linear.lut

5)

Open the assetto_corsa.ini file under :\Steam\steamapps\common\assettocorsa\system\cfg and make sure the following part look like this

[FORCE_FEEDBACK]
FF_SKIP_STEPS=1

[FF_EXPERIMENTAL]
ENABLE_GYRO=0
DAMPER_MIN_LEVEL=0.0
DAMPER_GAIN=1.0

6)

ingame should now look like this:

lut on off.. gamma on off.. both off.. Rasmus ´es (or very similar Luts) .. you can dance all day long around the fire .. and i tried many many many variations of these..

the G27 is pain in da butt in all sims.. and it is easy to get lost in the "tuning and settings" jungle in order to fix something..what is by default flawed - the G27 itself - and in my opinion not even appropiate to fully simulate FFB - comparing with belt or direct driven wheels.

if you want to drive "Alien" laptimes.. try for change this: you will be suprised :) and get what i mean instantly by simply trying that

if i move..i ll go direct drive .. have had enough of plastic phantastic toys :)

i was speaking with someone couple days ago.. i think he tried them all.. he said.. the jump from g27 to belt driver is huuge.. like a new feel..but so is the difference from belt to direct drive .. :)

what is hardware lock?

The sliimax manager pro is a magnificent piece of software that will alter the wheel's real rotation in order to much 1:1 with the car.
So if you drive a F1 car will go to etc 420 , if a GT3 to 560, if a 488GTB to 720 and so on.
The degrees comes from the car's physics file , you can see them in the setup dev app as wheel=180 and than means 2X180=360.
With this way you have realistic rotation and as such hardware lock.

I am trying to find free time to complete a guide (currently at 70%). But it's really easy.

I agree with everything you said guys :)
Now to my LUT, that I currently use:
@gruvendubs "all these luts" surely aren't the "real feel". But mine doesn't do anything big. I attached a image with the default ffb without touching anything, the default ffb with min-force at 15% and my LUT I use.
As you can see my LUT is pretty much just the default FFB with around 15% minimum force but a bit customized because I feel a notch at the center transition without my lut.
I tried to erase the deadzone and get a very very smooth center transition at the same time.
And for me that is pretty much "the real feel". The FFB from AC doesn't need a lot of changes, only adjusting the deadzone for the G27 and you are good to go. :)
(my newest lut is a bit different but the feel and the look are the same!)

Which LUT is that?

Which LUT is that?
EDIT: you actually wrote a review using my newest LUT :) But seems a few settings where off in your profiler ;)

http://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/rasmusps-lut-guide-for-g27-29-and-dfgt.16799/updates

Read the update entry :)
And I don't want to sound like a douche bag, I really try to be humble about my work.
But I tried it all and I study engineering so I did theoretical research and "try and error". Made notes, had a system, checked what I did in excel with graphs and funtions.
In my opinion the G27+ Assetto corsa won't get better, or more "real" than with my current lut (update 25th September '17).

It's nowhere near the real thing, because the G27 isn't capable of doing anything near the real thing. But I have some experience with driving at the limit, did some professional driver training once.
No race car experience though.

I don't write that to say "I'm the best". I write that because I got the feedback that my "way" IS the best and I know that you can become a "lost soul" while searching for G27 settings... Just too many who claim to have the only and final way for it.

Trust me: use my settings and get happy. Or at least go as happy as it is possible with the low end wheel :)

I see you had damper at 100%, Spring at 100% and centering spring activated.
Deactivate it all, go through my guide and use my newest lut (in the zip file, the recommended one).

If you have any questions shout out in the support thread of the download :)

PS: I have NO clue about other sims. I'm a lost soul with them! But I do know how AC works :)

:O_o:

AC doesn't use Centering Spring for anything; even if you have it enabled and set to 100% in the profiler it makes no difference in game.

Damper is used by AC to add resistance to the wheel when sitting still and moving at speeds under a few kph. Not having it enabled in the profiler will result in a completely limp wheel while sitting still or going very slowly. No reason to not have it enabled in the profiler.

In order to be most effective a LUT file needs to be generated on a per wheel basis. A LUT generated for one G27 isn't going to be the exact same as a LUT generated for another G27. Furthermore, a LUT file simply helps to get rid of the inherent 'notchy' feeling in a gear driven wheel and makes it feel 'smoother' like a belt driven wheel. It also eliminates the need to use min force to get rid of the center deadzone.

I know, but since his settings seem to be quite a mess it's easier to just put all the sliders down. How often do you stand still while just wanting to drive a car around the Nordschleife? I don't think the standing still experience is so important.

The spring slider might do nothing, maybe it does. Couldn't find something about it.
But yeah, AC doesn't use it so put it to 0.

The centering spring on the other hand, for my profiler at least, will always be active if it's checked. And kills the whole purpose of the ffb since it's just a constant force.

Of course in theory you would need a different lut for every G27 but how big do you think the range is? It's a mass produced product. And you won't feel a big difference.

But I'm just posting this because I care and got the feedback that it's good. I spent a lot of time and didn't change anything in the last 4 months so I can say that I found my perfect settings.

If you want me to stop posting it and to delete my statement just tell me, no problem with others not using my settings, couldn't care less.

Btw Michael, could you post your lut? You seem to know a lot about this topic so maybe share it for us to try your settings :)

Hi,

Thanks guys about all your efforts to improve our FFB G27 experience in AC.
I have to admit that I spend lot of time to try to understand all this stuff and I think this is a little bit to complicate for lot of people.
I use a .lut file generate with the soft wheelcheck without now if I'am in the right way + other settings in the .ini AC file.
That I would like to have is an official statement from Kunos team to help us to set it in the most simplicity and correctly way.
Maybe @kunos could help us with recommended settings posted at the beginning of the "LOGITECH Wheels official thread" ;) http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/index.php?threads/logitech-wheels-official-thread.3295/
Good Sunday all.

Next, you are going to tell everyone that buying a pair of Air Jordan's will make you jump higher... :rolleyes:

What you describe would be nice if the game handled that itself like every other sim. And traditionally this is 'soft lock' not hard lock. A hard lock generally refers to the limit that your wheel can physically turn at max rotation. So for a G27, it's 900 degrees. For a T300 it's 1080 degrees.

@Tatuus drivers (basically @RasmusP lol): is the FFB on your G27 always light, especially when you have oversteer? It's impossible to me catch any slide on Assetto Corsa. I use LUT generator, WheelCheck, FFB Clip, everything that you can find on here. So far the AC FFB has been just a nightmare to me.
