Leo Bodnar BU0836-LC not reading Load cell?

Trying to get the Leo Bodnar BU0836-LC to read my load cell, I'm using bathroom scale type half bridge cells and have tried both hooking two of them up to create a "4 wire" load cell and tried 2 1k ohm resistors to simulate the other half of the bridge. I also made sure my particular load cells ohm out at 1k. I can see a very very tiny change in resistance with a multimeter when I apply pressure to the cell but no matter how I hook it up the the LB board It either reads 100% or 0% input and no change with pressure applied. I'm aware there is a 3 to 4 wire converter available but this should work and I'm really wondering if something is wrong with the board, I've been using it for a button box for a few years now without issue. I've also tried a few different load cells as I bought a pack of 8. Am I just missing something here? I've searched all over the internet and cant find any 4 wire cells the correct size.
