iRacing Update Released

Busy times for iRacing players once again, as another sizeable update has recently deployed for the simulation.

Yes, iRacing most certainly have a rather pleasing habit of throwing out those incredibly large updates, even when what not necessarily a main build release, and the new 2020 Season 2, Patch 3 release is no exception.

The new build dropped for iRacing a few short days ago, and contains plenty of fixes and improvements for a wide selection of cars and tracks currently available within the game.

With this update being more a traditional patch than major build release, no new content has been made available - but worry not, looks like plenty is on the way in the not too distant future.

With all the attention iRacing has deservedly attracted with pro racers and televised races I can't imagine what is in store not only for iRacing but perhaps rFactor2 gets a much needed shot in the arm to get over the hump with UI, and others see an increase from the exposure of e-events. Yeah, trying to look on the bright side of the times but I'm excited that our hobby is being recognized and enjoyed by those that may have not been aware other to hear from those of us holed up in a spare room, basement or garage getting our race on and maybe thinking...what a dork.;)

Even the cool kids can't help but get a huge smile on their face when they see a race rig sitting in front of them. It's universally accepted!!

They also announced two open wheelers and some short track ovals will be becoming to the service soon.

Utilizing the same chassis, the Tatuus USF17 and Tatuus PM18 represent the first two steps in the Road to Indy program. After conquering the USF17 in US F2000 action, drivers get to play with 100 more horsepower, more aerodynamic options, and larger tires with the PM18 in Indy Pro 2000.

Upon release, the US F2000 will be used as a more appropriate car in the fixed setup Formula Sprint races at the D-class license level, where it will replace the Dallara F3. The Dallara F3 will remain in its own series at the C-class license level.

Upon release, the Indy Pro 2000 will replace the former Pro Mazda car at the C-class license level open setup series. The Pro Mazda will be renamed as a "Legacy" car and removed from official racing. Any user who purchased the Pro Mazda within the last two years will receive the Indy Pro 2000 for free!

Finally, future seasons at both levels will see the addition of a couple short ovals run in real life to more closely replicate the real-world Road to Indy ladder. (looking at you IRP)

Stay tuned for images later this week!

iRacing has managed to slam a homerun and turn something bad into a lot of positive energy. Not a real esports fan, but watching real race drivers who normally risk their lives on the track demonstrate their skills while having a little fun on the side is awesome.

That was exactly the magic ingredient that manages to draw me in, the real factor that imo is missing from eSports.

iRacing is a super platform.

Its main flaw is how it locks of “licensed” content if you do not pay your subscription.
So you can have ALL the tracks - which I’m almost ashamed to admit I do - but not drive on any of them if you skip your monthly fee... OTOH that’s how a lot of real world works as well, so I can’t fault them for it, however I can sure say I don’t like it.

You know what they say about opinions.;)

No, better a 2022 spec car, 2020 cars are on their way out. But I bet after the McLaren fiasco, iRacing will not do another F1 car in the next four or five years.

There is no way for a current F1 car in iRacing right now. Nobody would deliver them the requested data. We maybe will see some of them once they're retired. Like they did with the McLaren MP4-30, or with the LMPs.
No F1 manufacturer would provide sensitive data of current cars to third parties because of some racing sim.

I have been enjoying it a lot lately. Some really good racing, even in rookie series. Even the free Fanatec series with the Cadillac CTSV and Kia Optimia at Taskuba with 30 cars was really clean and good racing. Can't speak for ovals though.

Big question for the upcoming IMSA races. What car will the Team Corvette guys use since they are no C8R available in the game? Is iRacing creating one? Are they updating the C6 to be able to compete with the other GTE cars? Maybe they won't compete.

What do you mean by 'upcoming Imsa races'. The iRacing IMSA series (IMSA Sportscar Championship) hasnt changed in a while and probably wont change soon. There are 3 classes. DP (Daytona Prototype) GTE (Porsche, BMW, Ferarri, Ford) and GT3 (Merc and Audi).

There is a new IMSA series called 'IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge' with two classes (TCR and GT4).

I think he means the broadcast races with real drivers.

More than likely the same car they drove in Round 1 last week.
I didn't watch the stream so not sure.
I was watching one of iracing Daytona esports a few weeks ago and there was a factor Ford esport team competing and they weren't even driving a Ford that race lol
