Following the end of EA Sports exclusive license to represent the Porsche brand in digital gaming, iRacing have quickly jumped on the bandwagon and secured the rights to bring the famous German brand to their online only racing simulation in 2017.

Kevin Bobbitt, Director of Marketing and Communications for iRacing.com had the following to say following the recent announcement:

“This is great news for iRacing and for the 65,000 iRacers around the world,”
“Porsche’s success in sports car racing is without parallel, from Le Mans and the Nürburging to Daytona and Sebring. Porsche is the ideal partner for iRacing as we continue developing our sports car and endurance sim racing capabilities.”
Check out the iRacing Porsche Announcement Trailer below:
Joining Assetto Corsa in the list of modern simulations to secure the rights for bringing the Porsche brand to a bona fide simulation title, iRacing have confirmed the 2017 spec 911 GT3 Cup car is due to be released in the very near future in a first of several new vehicles due to hit the title. Further models will be revealed by the studio as the year progresses, however if the release preview trailer is anything to go by, players of iRacing look to have a very interesting few months ahead of them as 2017 kicks off with a bang.

iRacing is an online only racing simulation available exclusive to PC. Subscription on a year basis to the service, with additional costs for content apply. A base vehicle and track set are available as part of the standard package.

iRacing has its very own sub forum here at RaceDepartment, a place where you can go and discuss the simulation with your fellow iRacing enthusiasts and share your own custom made setups for the range of vehicles within the sim. Head over to our sub forum now and take part in the discussion.

Are you happy to see Porsche make its debut in iRacing? Are you pleased to see the German manufacturer have spread their wings across other simulations? Do you think the sim will do justice to the manufacturer? Let us know in the comments section below!

This are very good news! Even when im not playing iRacing anymore its good to see this brand in the kind of game´s/sims that should be.

This kind of reply derail the thread... please lets try to be gentle.

I could make a big reply but i dont think u ll be able to take my pov, clearly u already know alot about Racing Simulators, 3D modeling topology, sounds, physics and pricing strategies.
Well I had to justify the pricing from the other guy so completely normal

Well to be honest AC is fun for cruising in normal cars, but race cars in AC does simply not feel as connected to the road compared to iRacing and that for me made the real difference. For instance, you can feel all 4 wheels individually from the wheel which is nice and the complexity of the handling is much greater. Also the grip levels are far more superior to the AC grip levels which feels linear and scetchy most of the time, in other words grip levels are like a on off switch at times...

Thats exactly what I think too :)

I was thinking that exact same thing when I saw the ad.
Given IRacing's pricing, it's physics should be so darn far above everything else currently out there, we shouldn't even be able to compare

While I spend more time in AC than iRacing, I can certainly recognize that iRacing is providing an ongoing service of servers, series, rules, maintenance, community etc. That is the reason for the pricing difference. Those that like to race multiplayer within a great online community either find it in a league with another sim but usually a lot less options for racing or they find iRacing to be a great value. If you don't care for it that's fine but comparing cost to other sim titles that offer a different type of experience isn't really helping anyone. iRacing isn't perfect by any means but open servers with other titles really aren't the same experience.

So i have over 15 porsche to hotlap or 1 gt3 cup on iracing with competion multiplayer. I take the multiplayer any time... Yes ur right iracing should have the best physics out there with this pricing but other sims should have a good saftyrating on there multiplayer as well. For the they all fail

Completely agree with you, pal!

I think you did not try AC after the 1.9-update. The slicks are so much better now and the amount of steering corrections needed to drive a car at the limit has increased by far and matching onboards like perfect. It´s another sim in this regards now.

Exactly, the cars in iracing drive like they are on rails 24/7.

Can't people just stop to whine about Iracing pricing? I mean yes of course it's not the cheapest sim out there, and yeah the racing is sometimes a little strange to but the people who love to play just play it, and the people who are never going to play it because they think another sim is better (not going to start that war again) i personally find iracing one of the most enjoyable sims out there, No matter the costs,

And if you race enough you can actuall get 4$ per series if you finish 8 races of that particilar series (if that makes sense) and you can earn up to 40 Dollars a season ( iracing has 4 season) You can buy a decent amount of content for that for free!

Anyway that's the only thing i wanted to say.

If you like another sim more fine! go and play it and i wish you all the fun in the world, but please stop about the iracing pricing when you're not even interested in buying !
