How to edit .dds image files?

I would like to edit some track files. What tools should I use to edit dds files inside mas files?

Photoshop is what I use but it is totally down to you and what you feel comfortable.

I couldn't open those with Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro or Gimp.

So have the files been converted? If so, try editing them before you convert the files, sometimes converting them I've noticed gives some unwanted side effects.

I only extracted them in the folder. The problem is that I can't open them for editing.

Are these RF tracks?

I think so.

Use MAS editor, find the files you want to edit right click them, extract, open in Photoshop/other photo editing software, edit what you need to, save. Then import them back into the mas file, overwrite and then save. Job done.

Where can I get the MAS editor?

If you Google it you'll find it on Rfactor pages, no doubt.

gMotor 2.0 MAS File Utility (MAS.exe) is the only one I can find and it only extracts the files.

Thats it. You extract it and then open it up in photoshop.

So you followed what I said above and it still doesn't work? Like I said, usually problems arise once you convert the files, not before.

I'm starting to think that there are different kind of .mas files. Maybe these are made with rarely used photo editor.

Are you trying to edit the mas file or the DDS file in Photoshop? Obviously you can't edit a mas file in Photoshop.

Like I said .dds file.

Detroit 98 .dds files won't open. Many other tracks .dds files opens.

Obviously, your version of Photoshop can not handle dds-files. But just look for the dds plugin in the internet, it is just a small file and easily installed.
