How to build a track in rFactor 2?

I know how to build tracks for the old rFactor. I have learned this by looking on the internet how to do this and trial and error.

I like to build tracks for rFactor 2 but don't know how to do it. I can't find anything which points me in the right direction. The only things I can find are very complex.

Do you have some hints, where I can find how to do it and which software I need?

Well at least I know 3dsimed can convert tracks from rfactor to other sims but to get it working in the other sim seems to be not easy if you don't know where to start.
