Faster Than Speed - Singapore: Solid race yields no points for FTS at Marina Bay

FSR returned to the Marina Bay Street Circuit, which hosted the second night-event after the inaugural race at the venue in 2010.

Unfortunately, Faster Than Speed was unable to score points despite a solid World Championship drive from Danny van der Niet. Giuseppe Marconi had to retire from the Singapore GP due to technical issues.

In the World Championship, Danny van der Niet qualified his FTS-P13 in 16th place. Team-mate Giuseppe Marconi, meanwhile, suffered technical issues during Qualifying. He was only able to drive a single lap and had to start from the back of the grid as a consequence.

The race was unfortunately short for Giuseppe. With a repetition of the technical problems he had during the Qualifying session, his race was over after just 11 laps.

Danny made a good start, overtaking several cars to end the opening lap in 12th place. He drove a solid and consistent race. However, higher degradation than expected on the hard tyre compound required the team to switch Danny to a three-stop strategy, running two stints on each compound.

While Danny got up to 10th before his second stop, sequels from minor contact with Kolarec caused a long pitstop, as the crew repaired the damage, compromising his chances. Danny showed strong pace on the softer tyre, although he was unable to make use of his fresh rubber in the final stint, as he was held up by leaders Rietveld and Kalamees, who were slower on worn tyres. Despite the setbacks, Danny finished the race in 13th place.

We would like to congratulate Bono Huis on winning a record-breaking fourth FSR World Championship title!
