The DRM Modding Team have released a lengthy video showcasing the outstanding looking Work in Progress DRM Revival Mod for Assetto Corsa.

The Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft (or DRM as it is more commonly known) was a German auto racing championship for high performance Group 2 touring cars that featured a number of manufacturer backed and privateer run touring car and GT teams throughout the 1970's and early 80's. Consisting of an array of stars and cars from Group 2 touring car, Group 4 GT and later the inclusion of the Group 5 specification monsters which styling and sheer aggressive energy still resonate with many racing fans throughout the world today.

The series ran for 15 very successful years under a variety of different regulations and rule sets until eventually finding itself running out of steam and money at the end of the 1985 racing season, closing it's doors and quickly slipping into the history books as one of the most outrageous and spectacular racing series ever held.

With the DRM championship having benefitted from such a wonderful and exotic mix of some of the very best race car engineering feats of the 70's and 80's, it feels like a scandal that no professional video game developers have stepped up to bring a full re-enactment of the once great championship to it's own game (ok Sector3 have the Group 5 cars in RaceRoom, but it's still got a whole load of cars missing to make a full DRM season).

Step up the DRM Modding Team.

The people behind this mod have been furiously working away for several months now to bring together a substantial collection of cars that raced within the DRM championship between 1972 and 1985, creating a stunning collection of Division 1 and Division 2 Group 5 racing cars for the Assetto Corsa simulation. Already in game and receiving the fine touches required to bring together a full version one release, the DRM Revival Mod is looking like it could well become one of the best mod releases ever seen for Assetto Corsa.

In order to celebrate the development progress of the project the DRM Modding Team have released this special 17 minute trailer video showcasing all the cars out on track, and man does it look good!

The following cars are expected to form the full version one release:

  • BMW 2002 Turbo
  • BMW 320S
  • BMW M1 Turbo
  • Facetti/Finotto 308 Carma.
  • Lancia Beta Turbo
  • Porsche 935 K3
  • Porsche 935 k1
  • Toyota Celica LB Turbo
  • Zakspeed Escort
  • Zakspeed Capri Turbo
These spectacular Group 5 racing vehicles will surely provide a challenging and exhilarating experience behind the wheel as you look to plant the throttle and convert the considerable horsepower into forward propulsion from the massive rear tyres.

With the series having been home to many major international drivers throughout it's history, the DRM Modding Team will be recreating a number of period liveries for each car, allowing sim racers to recreate some of the most epic racing battles of the time. With drivers the calibre of Hans-Joachim Stuck, Klaus Ludwig, Rolf Stommelen and Bob Wollek alongside some of the most amazing cars ever raced, I simply cannot wait to try this mod out myself, it should be epic...

Assetto Corsa is a racing simulation designed by Kunos Simulazioni and is available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. The DRM Revival Mod is due for a release mid way through 2017.

What is up with this mod? :)

Hi @all
about the progress I have say we are very busy to finish the mod.
After some beta testing with at least 12 guys including members the historX team, we are busy with finishing the lod files and some left 3d working, finetuning on sounds and physics.
The Lods are the most important thing to get this mod running smooth with full grid without struggling in terms of low FPS and CPU over usage.
And the lods are simply the hardest part to create...
As you know, we are only at least 4 to 3 people who work in their sparetime nearby jobs and family on this big mod.
And we are not willing to release every single care.
So be patient if it takes longer as we expected.
We finally see light on the end of the tunnel, but the last meters are painful.
We want to finish and you want to ride, and we too ... with all of you.
You don´t build a house and say , ohh the living room is ready, time to move in ;)
We want to release it as a whole package and it has to be like we want to have it and I think you too.

So just be a little patient and be ready when it´s done...

See ya on track ... Cheers NIL

Thank you sir for the update. As you can tell, most of us know your work and understand that you gentlemen have very high standards. We look forward to driving and I'm sure you guys are looking forward to a break so you can relax for a while.

Cheers:)

Great selection of cars, near impossible feat to pull off so much content.
If you have some physics question feel free to PM me, can't help out directly but can point you in the "right" direction and how to do something.

Good luck :)

with the way the steering feels in AC they better do the mod in rf2 , in rf1 the mod was (still is) fun to drive and even ffb in rf1 and all steering behaviour is way better then in AC ,
It's a crap load of work for 4 or 5 guys and unfortunately not as simple as doing a port from one sim to the other. It is possible, seeing many mod teams do cars for both, that they may consider rf2 once the version for AC has been released. But then again, only they can decide that seeing its no trivial task that requires much in the line of sacrifice when it comes to family life.

I am a bit disappointed, for many of those cars are already made for free. And charge 15 euros for cars which many people already have, is too much.

15 euros for ten models (16 with variations),this is not really expensive. Plus, the "free" available cars are conversions with unrealistic physics. I know that, because i made some of them ;) This mod will be a blast !!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Seems pretty interesting from what we've seen so far - love the user manual detail, really appreciate and enjoy the info on that, makes it seem really special.

Interior textures look fantastic, lots of wear and tear which looks great, I'll be amazed if the kn5 file sizes are close to Kunos ones.

Only issue I see right now is the lack of consistency between models - some look perfect, other lack a lot of details and others looks a bit on the dense side.

This RMT almost looks like a LOD B compared to the other RMT

Anyway, overall it looks great, will be interesting to see if those are WIP images and all have been brought upto a similar standard for release.

I can get a slice of pizza from the gas station for a dollar. It's not very good, kinda tastes like cardboard, and who knows if that's really cheese on there. Or I can pay up and go to Giordono's and have the greatest slice of pizza I've ever tasted, flakey crust, pounds of real stringy cheese and fresh toppings, leaves me wanting more and more.

Personally, I'll take a hard pass on the gas station mod cars and pay up for the gourmet mod cars.

I get your point, but from having worked in the restaurant trade whilst at Uni, i can safely say the gourmet pizza will not be miles above the dollar one in costs.
You'd be amazed at the short cuts restaurants make in the pursuit of profits.
No doubt this mod pack will be great, but even the devs take short cuts here and there to save costs........... whether its gourmet or not good on them.
