Download speed

My internet connection might be very mediocre, but only on race department I get a speed of 50-70Kb/s, while my normal download speed is 1,7-1,8Mb/s. Am I the only one experiencing this problem?

We used up 77 terabyte of data in the last 30 days so that means hundred thousands of people have been downloading files and by the feedback we get only a fraction seems to experience an issue. Most logic conclusion is that it's on the client side somehow as our server runs smooth as silk.

We do want to help resolving it though.

Do we have stats anywhere that show bandwidth usage? I've personally not experienced any issues downloading, but I don't have the huge speeds these guys do. I have 40MB.
Yup, we do have stats (tho we'd need timestamps, ideally UTC, to really check the logs), but that's not going to be the issue because it's not like people are saying "I only get 10Mb/s sometime" - instead they are only getting a few hundred kb/s or even less. The server has a 1Gb/s link. (Btw, I'm using lower-case "b" for bits here, and I use upper-case "B" for bytes ;))

Fair point, yes they are getting very slow speeds.

There is a probleme a 7th hop. We are all from France with this problem?

Not really a sign of a problem - quite a lot of routers drop packets with zero TTL, which is how traceroute works. If you can't get to a site, you can sometimes learn what's wrong by using traceroute, but if you can get to it (as evidenced by line 11 of the output), then you can infer that the router is working fine and it's just not playing nicely with traceroute.

It gets worse this weekend, 8:52am in Barcelona, steam is working good 43mb max speed, and here 50kb :(

Well, it can't hurt to gather a little bit more information.
Anyone who's seeing issues and wants to help us debug this, can you please:
  • at a time when the download speed is bad, please run "tracert racedepartment.com" and save the output with a note about the download speed you were getting
  • if at another time you are getting good download speeds, please run the tracert again (and again save it with a note about the download speed at the time)
You can upload them here or PM them to me if you prefer. Maybe we'll see a pattern about which downstream networks are showing up as problematic.

Just downloaded the last LeMans for AC in a few seconds...

Can you state the actual speed you get, and also what you get from a speedtest (e.g. speedtest.net)?

My own trace, just now (as usual, I'm getting full wire speed of ~ 8.7 MB/s):

Same issue here...
Can be an Orange isp problem??? I was with movistar 10 Mb Adsl since a couple weeks ago and I was downloading faster than with my new 500 Mb from Orange.
Last week I've got some good DL velocity from here, but now it's slow again.
