DIY Shifter with T300/T500 RS/TX

Hi all,
Has anyone succeeded in connecting a third party or DIY sequential shifter to a Thrustmaster wheel through the PS/2 port (the one meant for TH8)? I'm making a really simple one with two NO switches and want to connect it to my T300 wheel. I've already wired it to work with my old Fanatec (http://www.racedepartment.com/threads/my-sequential-shifter-project-for-fanatec-gt3-wheel.47504/). Tried connecting the PS/2 straight to the T300 but nothing happened.
Now I know Basher sells this adapter to connect Fanatec shifters to PC directly, but is there a cheaper/easier way?
Thanks,
Sam

John at Inside Sim Racing has done a review on an adapter from Basher Boards with that allows to to use a pair of Fanatec Pedals connected directly to your T300RS, T500, TS-PC wheel base and Jon from Basherboards is also looking at an adapter for allowing any 3rd party Shifter to be connected directly to the Thrustmaster wheel base....link below for more information.
