Community Question | How Long Have You Been A Sim Racer?

I remember my first race game was Nigel Mansell on Amstrad cpc !
The big change : grand turismo on playstation and GP legend on pc
My favorites : Rfactor 2 , Assetto Corsa , Gran turismo sport (for fun ) and F1 2020 (beta tester)
New game : Automobilista 2 (good but more "simcade" than the first game )
I first had an ATARI with pole possition then christmas in 83 the AMSTRAD, played the hell out of the Nigel Mansell game, all keybord and ajusting the turbo as not to run out of fuel, then have to weave side to side to get the last drops of fuel if I cut it to fine. I don't think any other sims ever modeled that.

Looking back, a disproportionate number of the very first games I played on computer were racing games, games like Accolade's Grand Prix Circuit, Microprose's Formula One Grand Prix, and Papyrus' Indianapolis 500. It's been on and off for thirty years ever since. I still get flashbacks of F1GP particularly when I drive certain tracks. I like racing games because they have all the excitement of an action game without the violence, and all the minutiae of a strategy game. That and the challenge factor is what draws me to the simulation side of things.
