Car doesn't move only in race mode

Hi, very frustrating and sudden problem. When I start a race in AC the car immediately starts revving to the redline on the grid without any input and when the flag drops and I put it in gear, the car doesn't move. No problem in other modes. Doesn't matter what track or car combination I use. I raced just the other day and everything was fine. Inverting the pedals didn't help. I have VRS Direct Force Pro pedals which are recognized in CM. I recalibrated the the pedals in the pedal config and that didn't help either.
