ACC British GT Series - Final Round - 2Hrs of Silverstone 29.05.23

Assetto Corsa Competizione Racing Club event
From the sessions I've done in the server, it seems to be somewhat accurate.
Not 100% sure, but it seemed to be forecasting the actual next 15 minutes, not the x2 accelerated 15 minutes.

Yea that’s what I found when I last done a wet race, the time shown is the real time length

Hi Guy´s
Sorry but the old body , say´s no way man.
My old back problem ,got to me after our Netherlands tour , been a hell week
did try 15 laps yesterday after that it was a mess. So 2 hours is not to think off.

My Race Report

Tough race for me again this week, no practice at all ahead of the session. Jumped in and worked on a wet setup, couldnt get it how I wanted it. Qualifying went ok, started P6.

The track and weather forecast were dryer than expected so I gambled, loaded a dry setup and quickly guessed the pressures and fueling.

Got a good start, made up a couple places and quickly moved up into second, Sebastian was quicker behind me a couple of laps in so I let him through trying to keep a good pace to stay ahead of the main pack behind. As it started to rain I had more pace and moved back paced Sebastian's BMW.

Pitting for wets I missed the limiter and got a SG30, served that and was well down the order in 9th or 10th. In the wet I sucked, really struggled to get a consistent pace, clipped a kerb and span into the wall too causing 16 seconds of damage.

As the rain cleared around 1 hour in I pitted for slicks, filled the car up with the fuel to get to the end and focused on what I could salvage. Happy to cross the line in 4th after a tough race. Waiting to see where that puts me in the championship overall.

Had fun this season but its been ups and downs, most races I have struggled to find practice time, often not racing from week to week due to work. Got my first win though on RD club races so thats a big plus!

Looking forward to the next races.

I guess I could write some notes from my experience as well.

I started P10, so I knew that everyone was faster than me on dry conditions. However, since the weather forecast showed up rain, I decided to go wet setup and have many pit strategies; 2 for full dry, 1 for damp, 1 for full wet and 1 with max pressure wets for damp.

My original strategy was to pit every 40 minutes, but since the rain struck I decided to pit in 30 minutes in the race and go with the wets for an hour, as far as my fuel allowed me (105L on the tank at that moment).

I started the race with high pressure drys (about 26 psi) which for the start it was pretty awful, till it started raining. My main objective was to survive, without causing chaos.

My practice was relatively limited, but enough to see how the Porsche behaves on mixed conditions. In the rain I felt pretty quick, being only about 0.5sec - 1sec per lap slower than Chris, so I managed to stay 3rd for that part.

50 minutes left and the weather was drying up, so I decided to pit in when we had 45 minutes left for my final stop. I switched to the full dry tyres with 24.7 psi, hoping it would stay that way. That also meant that I would now be slower than everyone, so I tried the hardest to keep my positions, but if anyone was near me, I would give them the position without fighting it.

Glad I finished P5 in general, it was an awesome experience overall. Thank you everyone for the experience, it was an awesome journey during this series. i am glad me and Jay managed to hold make it to the end, among the faster drivers.

With 3 victories on the AM category, maybe I should consider racing with the "pros" next season. Where the limits are set between classes, right now I am literally on the border, 2:01.8 was my best in the Porsche on optimum conditions (2:02 was the cut-off) and my best at Monza was 1:50.7 (1:50 for the cut-off)

P.S. thank you for reading all of that
