Jamie Whincup, but I'm biased. :aus:

I can now see everyone saying "Who is that driver?".

150 points left to get, he has a 138 point lead. Just needs to finish 23rd in one of the races at Homebush.

The hardest part about assessing the "best driver" awards is taking into account the impact of the cars / bikes in the series. Many series are won by those having superior equipment eg. F1 is hardly an equal playing field for all drivers.

Mark Martin for getting so close despite being old enough to be some of his competitor's grandfather.

I would like to nominate someone who you guys might not know. Jimmie Johnson/NASCAR. Who: won the nascar sprint cup championship for the fourth consecutive time, something no one else in Nascar has done before.

I like Mark a lot better, but he's not old!!!!!!! He's 50 years old. I can think of two people older than him that race too.
